📖🦢This book was strange in the most disorienting way. I spent so much of it wondering what exactly was happening, but that sense of confusion and unease absolutely worked for this story. It was unsettling, weird, and completely unpredictable—and I flew through it.

📖🦢This was my 5th trad wife book of the year, and probably the one I enjoyed the most! 👀 Thank you to Atria Books and NetGalley for the eARC! 🖤

📖 More Like Enemigas by Stephanie Hope💕
🎧Narrated by Aida Reluzco

The story follows Isabella, the daughter of Cuban immigrants, as she heads to her estranged cousin’s weeklong wedding extravaganza, hoping to save her late father’s restaurant with recipes from his old journal. The catch? She has to share a cabin with Valentina, her former friend-turned-rival, who has her own agenda for the wedding. When the two team up to uncover a family secret and sabotage the wedding, things get complicated FAST. 😬

The audiobook narrator, Aida Reluzco, was fantastic and really brought all the drama to life. And when I say drama, I mean telenovela-level FAMILY DRAMA. The story really focuses more on the family chaos and emotional moments than the romance, which honestly was fine for me.
There was zero spice, so if you’re looking for 🌶️🌶️🌶️, this is not the one.

Also… I already don’t remember what these two were even enemies over. 💀 Whatever it was, apparently it was so insignificant that my brain immediately filed it under “girl, please.” 😂

But despite that, this one definitely tugged at my heartstrings a little 🥹 and ended up being a genuinely sweet, fun, entertaining story. 💗📚

🏳️‍🌈 The Z Word by Lindsey King-Miller is probably the gayest book I’ve ever read so naturally I was all the way in.

The absolute highlight of this book is the cast of gloriously queer characters including a bisexual baddie, extremely hot drag queen, mature biker butch, and a badass enby pizza-delivery driver who proves that sometimes saving the world is just another shift at work.

Despite the campy element the book has a solid underlying message with the zombie apocalypse acting as a metaphor about greed and capitalism.

Loved this book and you will too if you like all things queer, campy horror, and the power of community. 🏳️‍🌈🧟🍕

✨ SWEETBITTER SONG by Rosie Hewlett ✨

If you’ve seen the new Odyssey movie and want a closer look at the women of Ithaca, you need to read this.

If two of your favorite books are The Song of Achilles and Circe by Madeline Miller, you need to read this.

And if you love a bittersweet, forbidden sapphic romance set against a backdrop of Greek mythology… you definitely need to read this. 🏛️💔

The writing is lush and flowery in the most beautiful way, without ever becoming so elaborate that it slows the story down. I was completely swept up in it.

And now I’m left wanting to dive headfirst into more mythological retellings centered on the women of Ithaca and Sparta. 🫶

I loved this one so much. Five stars, without hesitation. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This resilience is forced on us. You have to remember that we’re just people. What’s the alternative? To stop living?”

Our Cut of Salt by Deena Helm is an incredible take on the haunted-house story, blending in a look at the occupation of Palestine and its effects on generations of families. The plot follows Marina, a young Palestinian American from Chicago who, after her grandmother Nuhad’s death, becomes determined to uncover the family history she’s been kept from and visit the home in Haifa (also her mothers namesake) that Nuhad was forced to leave in 1948.

The mystery of the house unfolds alongside the story of three generations of women. Marina is desperate to understand where she comes from, while her mother, Haifa, is much more reluctant to dig into a past she knows is painful. And then there’s Nuhad, whose memories of the Nakba and the home she lost slowly reveal why this house is so much more than just a haunted setting.

I loved the way the supernatural elements are tied directly to the family’s grief, displacement, and buried history. The house itself almost feels like another character, holding onto everything the women have tried to forget. As Marina gets deeper into the past and begins suffering physically from what she uncovers, the story becomes increasingly tense and unsettling.
This was definitely more of a slow-burn, atmospheric horror for me than a straight-up scary read, but the combination of family secrets, Palestinian history, and the genuinely creepy house made it compelling. A powerful and emotionally heavy debut. 🖤📚

🎧Victoria Nassif beautifully demonstrates the haunting emotional turmoil these characters experience in a clear, well paced narration.

The Secret Lives of Zombie Wives

Did I drop the 5 September ARCs I have and 4 recent releases of my most anticipated books of the year to read this short horror novella that doesn’t release until Feb 2027???

Yes, yes I did.

It’s Barbara Freaking Truelove- author of one of my favorite books of the year She’s A Doll. And I have zero regrets.

The Secret Lives of Zombie wives is told from the perspective of an undead trad wife who is beginning to piece together how she got here, who she is, and what she really wants out of life (or lack thereof.) A quick, and easy to digest (pun intended) thrilling and gory read. Fans of the show Santa Clarita Diet will love this book.

🔥 BURN OF THE EVERFLAME — Penn Cole 🔥

Y’all im still patiently waiting for my preorder to get here but I couldn’t wait to post this a second longer so you get a bookstore picture 😂.

I genuinely don’t know how to put into words what this series means to me. 😭❤️ Burn of the Everflame was an EPIC conclusion to my absolute FAVORITE romantasy series, and Penn Cole really said, “Let me rip your heart out… and then patch it back together with a literary hug and plot explanation that makes you immediately forgive me.” 😂😭

And speaking of Penn… I had the absolute honor of meeting her last year at the Everflame Ball, and she is genuinely one of the most humble, kind humans ever. 🥹❤️ I actually think she missed the ball because she was outside ALL NIGHT making sure she met every single person and signed their books and she was absolutely delighted to do so. Tell me how you can possibly not love an author like that?!

I was also incredibly lucky to be invited onto Penn’s ARC team, so I got to read this one early AND I have some special goodies to hand out so check my stories if you live in CO! 👀🔥

As for the book itself… I laughed, I screamed, I stressed, I fell in love, and I absolutely had my heart DESTROYED. Every one of her characters has a warm place in my heart, I love that she includes a diverse and eclectic cast and brings each one to life

This series has given me some of my favorite characters, moments, and romance, and I couldn’t have asked for a more emotional, satisfying way to say goodbye. Penn, thank you for creating a world I never wanted to leave. ❤️‍🔥

If you love devastatingly good romance, epic fantasy, emotional damage, and characters you’d go to war for, PLEASE add this series to your TBR.
