What an honour to be a part of @rootsandbridge first edition of Unframed: Canadian Immigrant Artist Anthology. Alongside four other artists, we reflect on how Canada has shaped and influenced our bodies of work.

In my chapter, I share a more intimate side of myself, diving into my childhood, what it was like growing up biracial, the stories that inspired certain paintings, and, more importantly, what has shaped me into the artist I am today. This is also the first time I’ve ever written in this way before, which feels both vulnerable and incredibly meaningful.

To now be able to call myself a published author feels surreal. While I’m naturally a little nervous to share these parts of myself, I’m also deeply excited. Writing this chapter opened something in me creatively, and I truly hope to continue writing more in the future.

You can find the book at @indigo or you can pre-order directly through me. Please send me a DM if you’re interested in a copy, I’m happy to coordinate both pick-ups and shipping. taken in Toronto, Ontario by @melmelboodo0
