Many musicians are collectors themselves and @thedetroitcobras Mary Cobra is no different. Decades spent within Detroit’s vibrant, ever growing music scene let her build an impressive archive of acetates, artwork and pressings as her own music career grew.

A few of many highlights include a Free John Sinclair concert poster from the Detroit Grande Ballroom, Ballroom founder Russ Gibb’s own hand signed door pass, and the poster from the night the MC5 recorded Kick Out the Jams there.

Her collection also includes an unreleased Rolling Stones Beggars Banquet cover slick alongside rare test pressings and acetates from artists like Lou Reed, The Doors, Big Star, Blondie, and The Ronettes.

Plus, archive bundles from her own band, including a stage suit worn by Mitch Ryder.

“We have like seven or eight genres that do well” she tells us because, as she puts it, Detroit listens to other Detroiters, over and over again. And the kids picking up guitars today are chasing the same records that built the Grande Ballroom scene sixty years ago.

Mary’s archive truly stands as a homage to her cities unique music scene. Now, it’s up for auction
