they always say that after your one year of posting is the best time to properly introduce yourself, right?

so here is my formal introduction, from a girl who was convinced she would never show her face in her posts to now where i went to a photobooth for the love of the game!

sprinkled in with a few things i love, media i enjoy & a little about myself, all to not even mention that i'm a massive homebody who's make this account to work on my fear of perception lmao!!!

but oh well, as always i'm very thankful to this space & you all for helping me find parts of myself through reading 🥹

what happens when you go to a photobooth in vienna in july then edinburgh in october? themed photo strips, of course!

when i had a venture into town i had the idea of themed reads along with the strips to match, since i do typically try & have some lighter reading in the summer especially 😌

so here they are: books i've read in the summer months these past couple of years, what's on my autumn tbr & what i think should be on YOUR autumn tbr 🫵🏻

i've loved all of the books i included in this & am hopeful about the ones i'm yet to read, i am starting to realise i may be a summer girl but more autumnal reader with these picks...

⭐️ COPPERSTITCHED

feeling absolutely crazy & insane for even getting to read this book before release, to know me is to know that the sacred space between is one of my favourite books of all time – so i was beyond excited to see that kalie had another release!

she was kind enough to send me over an advanced copy which i loved every second of, course i also was lucky to read it with my favourite girl @salimateez 🥹🤍

copperstitched follows saskia who has spent her life preparing to take on her father’s role as guildmaster of the cartographers guild. this is something that then comes to be expected of her sooner due to a mysterious illness that leaves her father bedridden.

her guild is one of many operating in secret, which uses rendered copper to craft their wears which is made by the coppersmiths.

we get the perspective of saskia and her childhood friend nicholas, who is in fact someone i'm convinced kalie put something CRAZY into how much i was obsessed with him.

this has mystery, romance & such a unique magic system. as i did with sacred space i would absolutely recommend picking up this book when you can. it comes out january 27th in the uk, so get on it!!! 🫵🏻 by @mels.tbr

editing this did make me insane given i apparently just love dead air & jumbling my words 😃🫵🏻 who said that

but to hopefully beat the reading slump i can feel coming on i wanted to see how many pages i could read if i was timed, this often feels a little daunting to me but i was immersed in the story immediately!

i'm hoping to have this book finished soon & it have cleared my woes, if you're going through it too i would absolutely recommend picking up a shorter but still anticipated book to see if that helps you too 🥹

pieces of my september 🦢

what a busy month it was! these are a few highlights from my ventures which included seeing many of my loved ones, eating well, celebrating milestones & buying more tyres for my car than Anyone should in the space of a year!

feeling very lucky as always for the time i get to spend reading, recharging & seeing my favourite people 🌟

here's to a busy but exciting october!!!

💬 what did you get up to this month?

⭐️ BOOKS I READ

after having ninth house on my tbr for literal years, i FINALLY read it & hell bent in preparation for dead beat which was truly a spiritual experience. each book got either 4.5 or 5 stars, it will be haunting my narrative for a LONG time

also did my usual tessa dare venture with my girl @salimateez (in which i did read the wrong one first but it's fine we move), with plans for our next author already in the works so watch this space!

some gorgeous new releases from rachel & alexandra i loved, charlotte becoming easily one of my favourite authors & some more arc reading!

i'm also at 95 books total??? somehow??? hey what's that about

⭐️ EVENTS

waterstones glasgow & my favies at book lovers in edinburgh held such lovely events this month, i was very lucky to be able to meet autumn & rachel for their most recent releases!

i loved both of their books immensely & had such lovely chats with them, as well as the surreal experience of taking a physical arc i was gifted to be signed 🥹

massive shoutouts as always to our bookshop workers who hold these events & make sure everything is so organised <3

⭐️ CAFES I VISITED

while i was in glasgow earlier this month i went to godshot studio with bestie fels, which had such a gorgeous homeware section as well as SUCH good matcha

then of course, i went to kul in edinburgh, everyone pretend to be shocked

⭐️ FRIENDS I SEEN

i was lucky enough to meet up with angel @khadijahreads while she was on her travels & in edinburgh for a few days, we had lunch & visited a few bookshops on such a lovely sunny day i'm convinced she brought with her 🥹

the rest of the month had plenty of lovely plans scattered throughout it, with more good eats & wanders <333

the leaves are changing & my hands are cold all the time, it must be october!

this month i have a bit of a mixed tbr but one full of books i've been really looking forward to, so consider these my hopefuls for the month since i've gotten to two so far 😌

i'm also at 97 books for the year which is crazy boots, this would be the first year EVER i get to 100 books with an original goal of 60 so prepare to be sick of me talking about it <3

💬 what are your reading plans for october?

⭐️ PHYSICAL

hijab butch blues: my beloveds fels & louise got married back in july so as part of their wedding gift i picked them each out a book, this was what i decided on for fels & they really enjoyed! so i'm looking forward to getting to this asap 🫵🏻

among the burning flowers: picked this up in august at the book festival, a nice quick one i'm hoping to race through to read the rest of roots of chaos!

migrations: a recent start (which i filmed & will hopefully have good footage to post) where i seen how much i could read in an hour, charlotte may well be a favourite all timer for me... who's surpsied

besieger: a gift from my lovely nev & written by my gorg mutual @kdmitova, this has the most beautiful cover & art so i cannot WAIT to sink my teeth into it (literally)

copperstitched: read with my gorgeous @salimateez as we were very lucky to have been sent an arc by our girl @kaliereidwrites, a full review & post to come on this beautiful book which releases in january 2027!

a week to be wicked: another mel & salima historical for the month since it would be rude not to, once we read them all likely expect a ranking cause that would be far too funny

a snake among swans: was hoping to read this earlier since the author is going to be chairing the tori bovalino event, but i'm excited all the same to hear all about it & give it a read!

open heaven: a recent book i finished & loved, sean was also at topping this week which i was lucky enough to attend with bestie rod & chat all about 🥹

alma vampires: i received this arc & have an event for elena in november, so i'm excited to give this a try! spanish love deception was one of the first books i read getting back int by @mels.tbr

anyone who has ever trusted a book recc from me to the front please!!! i need to talk about these two books that i read & one that is on my tbr!!!

earlier this year i was introduced to charlotte's work & have been unable to stop thinking about it since, wild dark shore is one of the best books i have read this year so it only felt right to venture into more of her work which i am so glad that i did!

this month i finished once there were wolves & i immediately went to the bookshop to pick up another of hers after finishing it, knowing i would love it as much as i did the other two — so i'm hoping to pick this up as we get into winter 👀

i decided what better way to depict these books than to show you what the inside of my head looked like while reading them or looking at the blurb, if you're looking for quick reads that will fill you with dread then these are Absolutely for you 🫵🏻

READ: WILD DARK SHORE | 5 ⭐️

a top book i've read this year, absolutely by far. this follows domonic salt & his three children — raff, fen & orly. we get each of their perspectives of what it's like to live on a remote island where they are the caretakers, & researchers had ventured on to collect & protect seeds.

one night they discover the body of a woman, rowan, that washes onto shore during one of their worst storms. she isn't telling the whole truth of how she ended up there, meanwhile they aren't doing the same for what they've spend their time doing on the small island.

this book is INCREDIBLE, i loved every single minute of it & how it explored the characters. such a gripping plot that had me FRANTICALLY try to find out what happened next — PLEEEEASE I BEG READ THIS!!!!

READ: ONCE THERE WERE WOLVES | 5 ⭐️

our main character inti arrives in the scottish highlands with fourteen grey wolves & her sister who has been through something initially unnamed & traumatising

they get to know the people in the town they live in, but one night inti stumbles across the body of a farmer with no indication that the attack was done by any of the wolves

we follow the mystery of what happened to this man & his dark by @mels.tbr

my current read 🩸

we all remember where we were on august 3rd (my birthday) 2023.... which was downloading baldurs gate 3 & running into this little freak within the first few hours of the game

this has been such a highly anticipated release for me purely for how interesting i found astarion as a character in my play through, giving us a character who is as complex as he is cunning & charming HAND IT OVER 🤲🏻

though i'm only about 20% into this so far i am very much hoping i enjoy it, i'll never say no to an abundance of content for a fictional man i would pester with my love & affection

as a treat i've included some accurate descriptions i've found over the years, as well as some from my first play-through!

here are some of my recent reads & my thoughts on them!

from new releases & a series in anticipation for the final instalment, this month has been full of some great reads so far & i only have more to keep me going 😁🫵🏻

of course i ended up rambling anyway given they were all reads i ended up loving, but who can be surprised! soon i'll have some more exciting arcs to get to, so i have that to look forward to as well hehehehe

💬 what reads have you enjoyed this month so far?

GRIM TIDINGS 🪽

after reading good spirits last month & being an avid enjoyer of the heartstrings series, i was really looking forward to reading this & it of course didn't disappoint.

it hit every mark for me, a reaper & a guardian angel walk into a bar LITERALLY, stealing my heart in the process. this book follows darcy who is starting to grow tired of her job as a reaper, clearly fatigued with taking people from their loved ones over again since what feels like the dawn of time.
meanwhile we have gabriel who looks over the small town he resides in, who clearly has lasting relationships with the residents.

to have one main character so clearly lonely and seeking companionship while the other seems to stable in what he has and loves was such an interesting dynamic to go through, not to mention there not being a single universe in which gabeiel can think of his life without darcy in it from basically the moment they meet.

this is such a tender, emotional, romantic story that i so thoroughly enjoyed, these two deserved the absolute world & really love the way B.K. has these adult conversations in all of her books. there are no big misunderstandings, if anything the characters love each other so much that they are TOO understanding (in the best way).

4.5 ⭐️

NINTH HOUSE & HELL BENT 🦉

i DID finally read these two in preparation for hell bent, it's true. these have been so highly anticipated & i'm so glad i got to them, because of course i loved them both!!!

in these we follow alex stern who was a high school drop out faced with a LOT of trauma before she's even in her 20's. not only does she end up with a full ride to yale, recruited into the ninth house where she has to monitor th by @mels.tbr

something happened to me this particular week in august that i am fearful will happen again, i became a woman possessed

there are plenty of times i track my reading for the week then just never make a post about it, so i'm hoping to bring this back again in the future!

an unexpected turn was certainly reading an entire series from tessa dare my beloved, but one thing about @salimateez is the party could end but we're still here 😌

💬 do you often track your reading?

MONDAY ⭐️

my last emma m lion volume for a bit cause i was starting to lose motivation with them, i think volume two or three will remain a consistent fave but we'll see when i eventually head back into it!

then i started my arc for turncloak, it was a bit of a slower start compared to book one with all of the world building - so i decided to pace myself & read in quarters

TUESDAY ⭐️

a planned buddy read that ended up y'know, becoming three

i did really enjoy this one & the characters were great, it's always so fun reading the start of a series to get introduced to all the characters that we'll see in future books

book four not making it to the surface we still think about you, cause it sounds like it would have been so good :(

WEDNESDAY ⭐️

another one, thank you!

this one was absolutely my favourite of the three & for good reason! the characters were all so fun, there were multiple moments where i was laughing out loud & the plot was a classic tessa dare mix up but done so well 🙂‍↕️

THURSDAY ⭐️

yeah what the hell sure read three books in three days

i fear this one was my least fave of the series but i still had a fun time all the same, the characters from the previous two books appearing made it all the better 😌

FRIDAY ⭐️

back to business as usual, i ended up finishing this arc i think that weekend & really enjoyed!

have been very honoured to be part of the street team for laura's book, this comes out so soon that i can't wait to see what everyone thinks of it 🥹

how it is september already i'll truly never know, it really is true what they say that the older you get the quicker the years pass you by — i'll be spending this month preparing myself for the cold & buying plenty of layers it seems 😔

here are my reading plans as we head into autumn, some VERY highly anticipated releases as well as continuing series i'm in the middle of & buddy reads. so far i've just finished ninth house, & knave should be up next along with a tessa dare because i have been DESPERATE to read more of rachel!

not to mention a very exciting arc that i hope to shout from the rooftops about soon, which is very highly anticipated for next year!!!!!
