AUGUST RECAP!! My favorite month. I love the transition into fall and school. 🍂

This was a really good month! Once I finished working for the summer I was able to read a ton, which makes me happy :) I was on such a vampire kick and I’m now trying to find some more good ones!

I re-read The Love Hypothesis to prepare for the movie and fell down an Ali Hazelwood marathon. Her STEM books are SO ADDICTING. I LOVE love and I love romance and I love when “sweetheart” is used in a book (chefs kiss). Re-reading a favorite book is like watching my favorite sitcom. My favorite thing to do. 😊

Also—great music month. I obsessively listened to Stupid Song and All I Want is You, LOL. I ALSO LOVE MUSIC.

The books I’m bringing to school! I move back to college in less than a week 🙈 I’m so excited! This’ll be my third year.

I don’t have a bookshelf, just some desk space and a dream.
I actually don’t read much during the semester because I have so many responsibilities and assigned readings for class, so I’m not sure if I’ll even make it through these LOL. 🫶

AHH! Mini book haul. I decided to treat myself and get this edition of Carmilla that I’ve been DYING for! 🤭

I love Carmen Maria Machado so this was an obvious buy. If I had known this existed before I first read the story of Carmilla, I would’ve read this one first! But it’s okay, this is the perfect excuse for a re-read! 🙌

The illustrations in the book are beautiful! I can’t wait to take them all in again as I read. Also, the introduction is incredible.

Super excited to add this to my Carmilla collection LOL. I’ve been reading every retelling and reworking I can find. Please leave book recs! 🧛‍♀️🫶. I first read Carmilla a few months back and I’ve been OBSESSED.

I dream of writing a book that is as beautiful and haunting as the ones featured in this post.

An Education in Malice by S.T. Gibson. This is a Carmilla retelling and while it is definitely very loosely related, if you enjoyed that novella, you’ll LOVE this. In this, Carmilla and Laura are classmates in an esteemed poetry course and spark up a very interesting relationship with their professor.

WOW! This literally has everything. Sapphic vampires, forced proximity, and ENEMIES TO LOVERS. Absolute perfection. I couldn’t recommend this enough. I will admit, the plot did feel weak at certain points, but the relationship between Carmilla and Laura was this book’s saving grace. It was still SUCH an enjoyable read. I was kicking my feet, giggling, gasping, and throwing the book.

I LOVE VAMPIRE YURI!
