“Trust the Shepherd”, 24x36 inches, oil on canvas

The ancient village of Xinaliq in the Caucasus mountains is the most isolated yet culturally significant villages in Azerbaijan. They speak their own language, preserve otherwise forgotten traditions, and it takes about two hours up a rocky mountain to drive there from the nearest town. Before recent roads were built, the village was almost entirely self-sustaining and relied heavily on shepherds for their diet (and still do).

To love even an ant! 🐜 - Oil on Canvas
⭐️Inspired by my job at daycare and the love and curiosity the kids share for the little creatures in the playground, the creatures that we are later conditioned to see as inconvenient or gross. The hardest lesson is to relearn to see every living being as a reflection of ourselves⭐️ by @meltembeee

My first project for my first art class: a self portrait. Each detail is symbolic of a part of my life journey. I loved exploring my inner world amidst the creation of this piece & will continue this theme moving forward 💕
