a little girl from Louisiana with a big dream is officially joining Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital 👶🏽🍼🩵✨

Alumna Spotlight: Melyssa Mitchell

After graduating from Florida Atlantic University's Freshman Direct Admit Bachelor of Science in Nursing track this spring, Melyssa Mitchell is preparing to begin her career as a neonatal intensive care unit nurse at Johns Hopkins All Children's Hospital.

Designed for high school seniors entering Florida Atlantic, the Freshman Direct Admit track provides a direct pathway to a nursing career. During her time at the college, Mitchell was recognized as a Fraternity and Sorority Scholar, selected as the spring pinning ceremony student speaker, and earned multiple scholarships.

150 questions later…. and i am officially a registered nurse🤍

all I can say is BUT GOD👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾

There were moments when I was exhausted, overwhelmed, doubtful, and questioning if I was good enough. But through every late night, every sacrifice, every tear, every prayer, and every obstacle, God carried me exactly where I needed to be.

This achievement is so much bigger than passing an exam. It’s a testament to God’s grace, favor, and faithfulness in my life. When I didn’t have the strength, He did. When I didn’t have the answers, He made a way. To Him be ALL the glory ✝️

To my village.. THANK YOU. Every text, prayer, word of encouragement, and act of support meant more than you’ll ever know. I truly could not have done this alone (yall know me and my anxiety chileeee)

And to my mom, my Mamacita 🥹, thank you for being my greatest inspiration. Your sacrifices, strength, resilience, and unconditional love have motivated me every step of the way. Everything you poured into me helped make this moment possible.

Today, I celebrate becoming a nurse. Tomorrow, I begin walking in the purpose God has called me to.

I can officially say: I am an alumna of Florida Atlantic University, a PROUD graduate of the prestigious and highly competitive Christine E. Lynn College of Nursing - where many applied but only 100 were chosen.

From long clinical days and sleepless nights to
moments where I wanted to give up… I kept going. Through it all, I stayed dedicated to serving my community, growing as a leader, and becoming the nurse I prayed to be.
