A healthy marriage is important, but so is healthy co-parenting. We pray our children never have to walk that road, but if they do, what example will they remember? Show them that respect, communication, and putting the child first don’t have to end when the relationship does. They’re learning from both. Now the question becomes: what do you call healthy?

Your child’s future is being shaped every single day… the question is, by who?

There are a lot of people who can give a speech, but being trusted to deliver the keynote and lead workshops with parents is a responsibility I never take lightly.

I’m grateful to Richmond Heights Schools for the opportunity to speak into the lives of families and have real conversations about raising confident, disciplined, and emotionally healthy children. Be careful how you speak to your child.

When a child doesn’t feel safe expressing their emotions at home, they don’t stop feeling them they just start looking for someone else to carry them. Sometimes that’s a friend. Sometimes it’s social media. Sometimes it’s the wrong crowd. by @memathis2

Whatever you feed grows.

If you keep feeding your son the idea that he’s “just a boy,” don’t be surprised if he becomes a grown man who still thinks and behaves like a boy. I understand there’s a balance, but I believe it’s important to speak to the man that’s being developed within him.

In the Bible, David was anointed by God to be king while he was still young. God spoke to who he was becoming long before he ever wore the crown.

Our words have power. Let’s stop speaking only to the boy we see today and start calling out the man of character, discipline, responsibility, and purpose we’re believing he’ll become.
