POSTS STORIES REELS

Welcome to Memo! 💌

Paper is in my blood. I was 4 years old wiping down paper carts and binge-watching Sesame Street in the little print shop where my mom was setting type and running offset presses. She can touch a sheet of paper and tell you where it was made, its brightness, its weight. Later she worked at another print shop that did direct mail, and I spent summers stuffing envelopes, binding books, collating letters—totally fascinated by the machinery and the whole post office process. I have every card (and it’s envelope!) I’ve ever been given stowed away in a box. The dreaminess of someone’s handwritten sentiment still does something to me.

In 2014 - I transitioned my decade-long career as a wedding photographer and stationery designer to create products I loved - for the city I loved even more. I was working markets, hand-making stationery, painting signs and dreaming about a colorful, unique stationary shop. I had the opportunity to move back into my first office on Main Street and my idea for a dreamy stationery store turned into something that was much needed - our sister shop - @rivercityevansville: a collection of wildly talented, local friends needing a home to showcase their goods…but my little stationery shop dream never really left.

In 2022, right in the middle of a tough season—a divorce, a sick kiddo, figuring out who I was—I had the chance to take over a spot just down Main Street and I knew what I had to do. It was Memo - and Memo was me. I’m thankful Memo happened when it did. In 2016, don’t think I really knew myself and I wouldn’t have taken risks. I wouldn’t have had little card tunnels where I hear people giggle as they look for the perfect card. It wouldn’t be red. 😂 It found me when I needed it and it kept me motivated and strong. Now, I have an cozy studio to design and paint in, walls full of artwork made by dear friends, and shelves full of my favorite brands, a card for everything, pens, paints, paper, and gifts. Three years ago - Memo was just my dream, but it’s the paper people that made it real. I can’t wait to see what happens next.
