There’s something special about the Memorial Park Crits that I always try to capture—the speed, the intensity, the competitiveness…but also everything happening in between.

The smiles before the start. The battles through the corners. Friends pushing each other lap after lap. The handshakes, laughs, and stories afterward. Competition and camaraderie all wrapped into one night of racing.

It’s definitely a bummer knowing the series is coming to an end. These nights seem to fly by, and before you know it, another summer of racing is almost in the books.

But that’s also why I love photography so much.

The races end. The crowds go home. The course gets quiet. But the moments we capture get to live forever.

I’m grateful I get to stand on the other side of the lens and freeze a little piece of what makes the Memorial Park Crits so special. 📸🚴‍♂️

The racing may be temporary. The memories don’t have to be. taken in Memorial Park Criterium Series by @memorialparkcrit

The tightest finish this year at the @memorialparkcritseries. @itzdunk came out of the final corner with a strong lead, only to see @alexjwieseler hit the afterburners in the closing meters. Hopefully there is a video of the finish as it was apparently only 2-3 inches difference on a typical Houston evening heater. Kudos to Nikon for the incredible camera as the light was nearly gone but still captured the 38+mph sprint finish. #memorialpark #memorialparkconservancy #criterium taken in Memorial Park Criterium Series by @memorialparkcrit

Mens P12 race at the sharp 90 corner at Memorial Park. As usual, the Wednesday night criterium series has been fast, and hot with the typical Houston weather. As usual, I love to experiment with a slow shutter speed combined with a flash to give that sense of blur and speed. #criterium #offcameraflash #memorialparkcrit taken in Memorial Park Criterium Series by @memorialparkcrit
