Thomas James MAHONY — “I Used To” The Animated Music Video. Watch full screen, on YouTube. Link in bio;

Four months of drawing and storyboarding went into this clip, with AI used to help colour the illustrations and achieve a Studio Ghibli-inspired aesthetic.

Then with help from the talented, Benjamin Marquard (@benjaminbruceee) then spent around five months bringing those images to life, using each drawn still as the foundation for the movement and in-between frames connecting the scenes.

A lot of time, care and love went into creating this world for Tommy’s music. Thank you to Ben, and to the friends and family who helped bring Tom’s work into the world. This one means more than words can explain.

Thomas James Mahony’s “The Other Side”

This is Tom’s last project he ever worked on, produced by himself & Jack Garzonio. Mixed by Stefan Du Randt, Mastered by Roll Mottle. More mixing and mastering by Ben Feggans & Stew Geddes.

This project was brought to life for Tom by his friends and family. Tom bled for his music, and I think one of the hardest parts of losing someone is slowly running out of things to find of them. Photos, videos, little pieces of their life you haven’t seen in years. Finding a new photo long after they’re gone is something incredibly special. I think it’s important, especially for artists to be able to continue to share their dreams and passions to the world after they are gone, not just for friends and family, but for some young soul seeker desperate for meaning. Tom’s raw unwavering passion & talent, to experience life in all its bends & perspectives is to tell thousands stories written with core honesty, and for those who could never explain it, it’s Conceptualised into ever lasting feeling to be revisited when ever needed. Tom was a poet by definition, but his drive to create was much more than life.

For the sake of preservation and for his memory to feel alive, there will be music continuously dropping over these next coming years, solo releases and collaboration projects with local artists who worked closely with Tom, and spent time with him on his journey.

Chamber 24 is a deeply personal and raw album by Sydney hip-hop artist MENARKU’, delving into themes of loss, disconnection, and resilience. Grappling with the death of his brother and the erosion of youthful ideals, MENARKU’ crafts a soundscape of boom bap grit and trap aggression to explore the darker corridors of the human psyche, touching on drugs, sanity, and the relentless grind of routine.

With unfiltered freestyle bars and a unique flow, MENARKU’ combines intense rhythm with introspective storytelling, creating an immersive and haunting experience. Collaborations with artists like Eras, Levi Jay, Queens, and the late Thomas James Mahony add depth, while production by Nonesome Beats enhances the album’s sonic diversity.

The project also features visuals by Helsinki-based brutalist animator Boris (@handsome_boris_ ), whose stark and surreal animations amplify the album’s emotional intensity.
