4 face tools I actually use ✨

Do we really need beauty gadgets? Probably not.
Do I enjoy using them? Absolutely.

And while results can vary from person to person, these are the four tools I keep coming back to:

⚡ Microcurrent device
I use it mainly around the jawline, cheeks and lower face. Microcurrent delivers very low-level electrical stimulation, and while research on home devices is still limited, there is some evidence suggesting benefits for facial rejuvenation and skin appearance with regular use.

🔴 Red LED light
Probably the one with the most interesting science behind it. Red-light photobiomodulation has been studied for skin rejuvenation, inflammation and collagen-related processes. The effects tend to be gradual rather than dramatic — consistency matters.
And honestly, I also just love those few minutes of gentle warmth on my face.

💆‍♂️ Facial massage & drainage tools
Around the eyes, cheekbones and jawline, these feel SO good. Facial massage has been shown to temporarily increase skin blood flow, which may partly explain that fresh, awake look straight afterwards.

🫧 Silicone cleansing brush
The simplest one of the bunch. I use it for a deeper-feeling cleanse and a gentle facial massage — without going crazy with pressure or exfoliation.

The thing I like most about all four?

Even when it’s difficult to know exactly how much a device is doing long term, it makes me spend 5–10 minutes actually taking care of my face.

Massage, warmth, stimulation, a little moment to myself.

And every single time I use one of them, my skin looks fresher afterwards — and I feel better too.

Sometimes that alone makes a beauty tool worth using.

Which one would you actually use?

PACKING FOR ONE NIGHT

One night away. No overpacking.

When I’m travelling for just one night, I try to keep things as simple as possible — only the things I know I’ll actually use.

My MacBook Air for work, a power bank because running out of battery is never part of the plan, my e-reader for some screen-free-ish downtime, and my Secrid cardholder — probably one of the everyday objects I’ve owned and loved the longest.

Then just the basics: toothbrush, toothpaste and travel-size mouthwash, plus a couple of small personal-care essentials.

One night. One bag. Just the good stuff.

What’s the one thing you always pack, even for a single night away?

WHAT’S IN MY BAG?

A few things I rarely leave home without — whether I’m working, travelling or just out for the day.

My MacBook Air because work tends to follow me everywhere. Noise-cancelling Bose headphones for some peace and quiet. Sunglasses, always. A big water bottle because I’m trying to stay hydrated.

And then the smaller essentials: toothbrush and toothpaste, Aesop hand care and lip balm, plus a Vitamin C mask for a little extra skincare when I have the time.

Nothing particularly complicated. Just the things I actually use and like having with me.

THE EDIT
MacBook Air — Apple
Noise-cancelling headphones — Bose
Daily Hydration Bottle — The Ordinary
Sunglasses
Oral care — Marvis
Hand care + lip care — Aesop
Vitamin C hydrogel mask — Masque Bar

What’s the ONE thing you never leave home without?

STILL USING IT — 6 MONTHS LATER

We’re constantly tempted to buy new skincare. We see an ad, get a recommendation, discover something new… and sometimes move on to the next product before we’ve even finished the last one.

Guilty too? Tell me in the comments.

So instead of showing you what’s new, here are 5 products I’ve actually kept using for at least 6 months — some for years.

THE EDIT

HYALURONIC ACID SERUM
My hydration base layer. I apply it before moisturiser to help keep my skin hydrated and plump.

VITAMIN C SERUM
My antioxidant step, usually in the morning. I use it for brighter, more radiant-looking skin and that extra glow.

FACE OIL
One of my evening favourites. Some nights I skip moisturiser altogether and finish my routine with a few drops of face oil instead.

EYE CONTOUR
After 40, this is one area I pay more attention to. Fine lines, puffiness, dark circles… I like having a dedicated product for the delicate skin around the eyes.

VITAMIN C CLEANSING POWDER
Add a little water and it turns into a really satisfying foam that cleans without leaving my skin feeling stripped. And because it’s a powder, it’s brilliant for travelling.

Not new. Not trending. Just products that earned their place.

What’s one skincare product you’ve been using for years?

NEW IN — MEDIK8

Just received these four from Medik8 and I’m really looking forward to putting them to the test.

C-TETRA ADVANCED
A 20% stabilised vitamin C gel-serum with phyto-exosomes. An antioxidant step for brighter-looking skin and protection against oxidative stress and premature skin ageing. Definitely one for my morning routine.

LIQUID PEPTIDES ADVANCED MP
A concentrated 30% multi-peptide serum designed to target expression lines and deeper wrinkles while supporting smoother, firmer-looking skin. This goes before vitamin C in the morning and can also be used at night.

CRYSTAL RETINAL 6
The evening one. 0.06% stabilised retinal — a step up from retinol and aimed at regular vitamin A users — to target fine lines, texture and firmness.

TOTAL MOISTURE DAILY FACIAL CREAM
The simple finishing step: a multi-layer moisturiser with H.E.O.® technology and prebiotic peptides, designed to support deep hydration and the skin barrier. AM + PM.

Now comes the important part: actually using them.
I’ll report back once they’ve had some proper time in my routine.

MY 3 ANTI-AGING BEST FRIENDS

If I had to keep just three things in my anti-aging routine, these would be the ones.

1. RETINOL
My evening go-to. Retinol — or a plant-based alternative such as bakuchiol — to support smoother, firmer-looking skin and help with fine lines. I use it at night.

2. VITAMIN C
My antioxidant serum, mostly in the morning. It helps protect against oxidative stress while supporting brighter, more even-looking skin. I sometimes use it at night too — on evenings when I’m skipping retinol.

3. SPF 50. NON-NEGOTIABLE.
Every single morning. I prefer a lightweight, invisible fluid or gel that doesn’t feel greasy or leave a white cast. Because there’s little point investing in an anti-aging routine while letting UV exposure undo the work.

Retinol at night. Vitamin C in the morning. SPF 50 every day.
That’s the backbone of my anti-aging routine.

What are your non-negotiables?

UNPACKING AESOP TOKYO 🇯🇵

There’s something particularly satisfying about opening an Aesop travel kit…

This is the Tokyo edition — a beautifully curated selection of travel-sized essentials, all packed into one of Aesop’s signature pouches.

If you travel often like I do, you know how useful these small formats are. They’re easy to throw into a carry-on, take up almost no space, and mean you don’t have to give up your usual routine for a weekend away.

I’ll be testing everything inside — and I’ll let you know which products actually earn a permanent place in my travel bag.

Tried. Used. Worth packing.

MY ORAL CARE ESSENTIALS

Tongue scraping first thing in the morning — a habit inspired by Ayurvedic practice that has become part of my daily routine.

Then the basics: a good toothbrush, fluoride toothpaste and no rinsing with water afterwards, so the fluoride can stay on the teeth and do its job.

Mouthwash comes separately, rather than straight after brushing. I particularly like this alcohol-free one from Aesop: it doesn’t leave my mouth feeling dry, and I love its fresh, aromatic blend of essential oils.

THE EDIT
Toothbrush & toothpaste Marvis
Aesop — Mouthwash

Simple things I actually use, every day.
