NPS were the folks who made the original Dr Martens, doing them by hand for YEARS. Then Dr Martens decided to move production to Asia. NPS started the Solovair brand, which are the same boots they had been making for decades in Woolaston, with a nice new name. Mendi and I were traveling to England and knew we had to go to the Wollaston factory and I had every intention of buying a pair of boots from them. (8 hole Black Greasy) We pulled up at 2:30 on Wednesday, driving straight over from Heathrow, and 😢 the factory store was closed. We thought “oh, well maybe we can do a tour”. No, not doing them today either. 😫 Someone from the office noticed us and popped out. Mendi let her know that we had come all the way from Texas and asked if there was any way someone would let us buy a pair of boots. She said “hang on, let me check” 🤞 Amazingly, YES! 🙌 Maggie runs the store and she was going to be there for a few more minutes, so she let us in to look, but she was heading out, so Ray (Sales) came over from the office and helped us find some incredible shoes and said “since you guys are here on a 30th Anniversary trip, would you be interested in a factory tour” 😱 YES! It was amazing. Learned a ton. We bought three pairs of shoes that will last a lifetime. And met some incredible people who are such skilled craftspeople, making shoes by hand, exactly the way they’ve been making them fovever. So cool. So nice. Customer for life. Matt, You’re Gonna Get Your 4-1 Court On 9/15/26, Tarrant County Commissioners Court met to vote on the 2027 Budget. Mendi made two appearances, and this is actually her first one, as the first speaker in public comments. In case you missed it from 9/1, Matt told the room he did redistricting so he could have a 4 Republican to 1 Democrat court. We have a chance to flip that script. Do You Wanna Talk About The Budget Yes or No On 9/15/26, Tarrant County Commissioners Court met to vote on the 2027 Budget. Mendi called them out on what they really care about: jails. And yes, support for more punishment (especially to “those people”) is core to white Christian nationalism. We can recommend books for Matt. 33 Days Until Early Voting 10/19 to 10/30 This Hadn’t Happened In Tarrant… And Then It Did The March 2026 Primary saw Democrats outvoting Republicans 188k to 145k, a 1.3 Democratic ratio. That’s a measure of energy Tarrant County hasn’t seen this century. It was the highest Dem ratio on record. The three Republican members of the Commissioners Court see what is coming.
