“Talk to your manager” sounds simple. Until your manager also decides what happens next in your career.

A LinkedIn workplace learning report found that 44% of Gen Z and millennials worried their manager would discriminate against them if they raised mental health concerns.

That finding deserves attention because speaking up at work involves a particular calculation. The person you might turn to for support may also influence your responsibilities, progression and pay. Even a well-intentioned invitation to talk exists within that relationship.

For an employer, this raises a question: what options does someone have if they need support but do not want their manager to be their first conversation?

For the person carrying it, there should be room to work out what they are feeling before deciding what to share at work.

Menthra offers a place to begin that conversation, with AI companions and access to human therapists and coaches in one place.

Management says: you have a condition. Here are your tools. See you in two weeks. Indefinitely.
Resolution says: something is happening in your life right now. Let's figure out what it is. Let's fix what we can fix. Let's get you to a place where you don't need us anymore.
One frame is permanent. It is also expensive. If you have to manage something forever, you have to pay forever.
And most of what people walk in with is not a lifelong condition. It is a situation. A loss. A transition. A marriage nobody can talk about. A job that is quietly taking them apart.
That deserves resolution.

Shorter alternate (if the clip runs long and the caption needs to get out of the way)
If you have to manage something forever, you have to pay forever.
That is the economics the system was built on. Not the clinical reality most people are actually living in. A loss. A transition. A job that is taking them apart. Those things resolve, if someone actually helps you resolve them.

You know the feeling. Something’s off all day, and when someone asks, the only word available is 'stressed.'

The problem is that your brain treats 'stressed' as a category, not a signal. So the alarm keeps ringing, because nothing has actually been identified. (emotional regulation, naming emotions, amygdala response, why am I stressed)

A 2007 UCLA study by Matthew Lieberman - Putting Feelings Into Words - found that when people labelled an emotion with a specific word, activity in the amygdala dropped and the prefrontal cortex, the part that regulates, came online. The naming itself did the work.

Precision is the whole mechanism:
→ not anxious, but flustered, or overlooked, or bracing for something
→ not angry, but slighted, or dismissed
→ not sad, but disappointed, or plainly exhausted

And one shift that changes more than it should: “I am noticing the feeling of X” instead of “I am X.” One is weather. The other is identity.

Which emotion do you find hardest to put a word to? Tell us below

I spent an entire weekend pretending it was 2006 again.

No reason. I just missed the version of a weekend that didn’t happen through a screen. So I made one small rule: anything I used to do offline, I’d do offline again.

I took photos on an old point-and-shoot instead of my phone... and something about only getting one shot made me actually look at things. I made a friendship bracelet like I had somewhere to be with my hands. I called a friend for no reason at all, not to make plans, just to talk. I made a playlist that sounded like a summer with nothing scheduled in it.

By Sunday night my weekend felt lighter. Not because I did more; because I did less, on purpose.

The part that surprised me: I didn’t plan it alone. I had earlier opened menthra and said “I want my weekend to feel like it did before I was always online”  and it just… helped me build the reset, one tiny offline anchor at a time. Just the old feeling, made easy to reach.

If your weekends have quietly turned into one long scroll, this is your sign to steal a little bit of 2006 back.

👇 Tell me your one 2006 thing - the offline habit you miss most. I’m collecting them for the next one.

Nobody warns you about the quiet part of moving to a new city. 🌆 You get the job. You pay the bills. You show up every day and do everything you’re “supposed” to do — but functioning isn’t the same as feeling okay.
So many men are taught to keep moving instead of reaching out. We call it discipline, focus, ambition… but some nights, it’s just silence.
This one’s a reminder: you don’t have to carry it alone. Relocation loneliness, the pressure to “have it together,” the burnout no one sees — it’s more common than you think, and talking helps.
💜 Save this for the nights the silence gets loud. Talk to menthra, free, whenever you’re ready.

“I’m fine.” “I’m busy.” “I’ll handle it.” For a lot of men, those three lines do the work of an entire conversation that never happens.
It’s not weakness — most men were just never shown what asking for help is supposed to sound like. So the load stays quiet. And carrying it quietly doesn’t make it lighter… it just makes it easier to lose track of how you’re actually doing.
But help doesn’t need a perfect explanation. Sometimes it starts with one honest sentence: “I don’t know how to say this, but I need someone to listen.”
This Men’s Mental Health Month, menthra gives you a private place to start. No pressure. No judgement. Just space to say what’s really going on.
👉 Try menthra for free. Start with one honest sentence.

We spend so much of our lives building frameworks, chasing metrics, and engineering systems to guarantee certainty. But life has a way of reminding us that we aren't machines.
My journey hasn’t been a straight line of wins. It’s been filled with moments of stumbling, breaking, and having to figure out who I am when the certainties fall away. That’s what this book is: an honest look at embracing our imperfections and finding true purpose in the middle of the mess.
Becoming Human is officially available now on Amazon. The link is in my bio. I can’t wait for you to read it. 📖✨

“I think I’m just stressed.” If you’ve said this for months maybe years this carousel is for you.Because somewhere along the way, the (stress) you used to bounce back from started feeling different. Heavier. Quieter. The weekends stopped working. The vacation didn’t help. You stopped feeling things you used to feel.
That’s not stress anymore. That’s (burnout) and it deserves its own name.
The difference matters because the recovery is different. Stress responds to regulation: breathwork, boundaries, rest. Burnout needs restoration: time, support, sometimes (therapy), and a real reckoning with what’s been emptying you.
You’re not weak. You’re not lazy. You’re not bad at coping.
You might just be running on empty and rest alone may not refill you.
🤍 Save this for the next time you catch yourself saying “I’m just stressed.” Tag someone who needs the reminder that there’s a word for what they’re feeling and there’s a way back.
Menthra is here when you’re ready.
