Courtyard by Marriott - Tirupati. A 12-Year Journey. A New Beginning.

After more than a decade of anticipation, resilience, and transformation, the Courtyard by Marriott project has finally opened its doors.

Like many long-gestation projects, this development faced its share of challenges. Progress slowed, priorities shifted, and for a period of time, the structure stood still—waiting for the right moment, the right vision, and the right partnerships to bring it back to life.

Reimagining the Built Form

What was once envisioned as a classical structure was thoughtfully reinterpreted into a contemporary, modern hospitality destination—aligned with today’s design sensibilities, guest expectations, and operational efficiencies.

This transformation was not just architectural—it was deeply interdisciplinary.

Working in close collaboration with a team of leading consultants in every discipline and Mr. Sunil Reddy of RGA, VMD Studio didn’t just coordinate the process—we anchored the transformation, guiding every discipline through a complex re-engineering journey.

Three years of belly rubs, treats, and the best shoulder to lean on. From being carried like the king I am to standing by your desk, keeping you company—I’ve had the best seat in the house for every adventure.
Thank you for being the best dad a dog could ask for. You lift me up (literally and figuratively), and I promise to keep watching over you while you work, making sure you never miss a break for scratches!

It might seem a bit old school, but I still swear by analogue cameras for photography.

Every shot with an analogue camera is more than just a click - it’s a decision, a moment where you’re truly in tune with what’s around you.

Digital is great, don’t get me wrong. It’s fast and convenient. But sometimes, it pulls us away from really touching and feeling our surroundings.

With design, there’s something about the traditional analogue way, that you can’t get from scrolling through a Pinterest board, live rendering or generative AI.

Take a walk around the site. Imagine the proposed structure within its context, understand the climatology of the location, and consider the impact the project would create on its surroundings.

Treat every project like a gift, a special moment, and that’s what analogue photography trains you to do. It’s about being fully present, syncing up with the light, the environment, and the vibe of the space.

Beyond photography and design. Think about music. Earlier, when recording you had only a few tries before you ran out of tape. It forces you to be more intentional. When you can record a thousand times to get it right once - you tend to miss the finer details.

It’s the same with our work. Taking an analogue approach means diving into the essence of a project, absorbing, imagining, feeling, and creating from within. Getting to know every little detail before we start building.

Dream hotels and houses are sketched first, not prompted. It’s about adding depth and emotion, making every project something meaningful.

It’s just a corridor, what’s the big deal?

Of course in a hotel, you need a beautiful corridor that makes guests feel comfortable.

But when it comes to design, aesthetics is just one part. Yes, it should look good - but it should also work brilliantly. That includes engineering, maintenance, sustainability and more.

Unfortunately, design thinking is not part of formal education for most architects in India. This means lots of simple but expensive mistakes, and many more missed opportunities to go above and beyond your client’s expectations.

Take the ceilings in hotel corridors as an example. The quantum of engineering it takes just to build that simple corridor with rooms on both sides is immense.

HVAC, electrical, plumbing, networking, fire detection, fire-fighting, and so much more are meticulously crammed into the little corridor ceilings - which means a few access points usually aren’t enough. Inevitably, there will be maintenance in places you don’t expect because there’s so much happening in the ceiling.

Once an operator asked for a solution - every time the ceiling required access for maintenance, they had to cut open the ceiling.

We made the entire thing modular. Aesthetically clad with lattice and mirrors (relevant to the aesthetic of the hotel) we designed the panels to be unscrewed and removed for easy access.

It is a fantastic corridor - as far as corridors go. And he was thrilled about the new-found accessibility.

That’s what good design is. Looks great, feels great, and works brilliantly. by @menzelvivek

The tea lounge & library at Gamyam is a space curated to indulge in a variety of experiences.

Strategically located on one of the elevated corners of the property, the views from the lounge is breath taking.

Relax with a personally crafted cup of tea, on the very comfortable seating options crafted by @ievo.makes.

One will feel that the vast swimming pool literally sits under the lounge.
The deck of the pool leads into lush landscape that seamlessly merges with the sands of the Arabian Sea.

Easily One of our favourite spots in the resort!

3 F&B options with the lavish all day dining , the tea lounge and bar and the swim up bar along side one of the largest pools we’ve every built.

Walk on the weaving pathways straight into the sands and the welcoming Arabian Sea.

Being added soon is a seaside bar and grill to serve our guests who wish to lounge on the beach.
