The sweetest chapters are often the most unexpected. This year, we had the profound privilege of surprising my mother with a new home, a sanctuary nestled within the vibrant tapestry of a historic Black neighborhood in Los Angeles. ✨

Those close to me knew the urgency of my return to LA from the Bay Area, a call to duty dictated by Mom’s health. To finally offer her the solace of her own home, a place where laughter and love can freely bloom, is a triumph beyond measure. And I’ve witnessed how transformative that has been for her health and spirit.

This house, more than bricks and mortar, is a testament to the enduring power of family, a narrative woven with threads of resilience, hope, and the unwavering love that binds us. It is a legacy in the making, a chapter where the American Dream finds its truest expression.

Cheers to family, to love, to the enduring spirit of our people. Let the echoes of joy and breaking cycles reverberate into 2025 and beyond. 🥂 . One exciting memory from 2024.

What does a lawyer look like? Like me 💅🏽.

Stop letting preconceived notions limit who you think can be in the room. This is what an innovative, tech-savvy lawyer looks like. ⚖️ Look in the mirror, it can look like you too! I spend most of my time advising tech companies on all things IP. Let’s redefine what it means to be a professional- period. Drop a 👩🏾‍⚖️ if you agree.

When two culinary worlds collide... welcome to The Kitchen Takeover!

When you want to master the art of the Macaron, you bring in the absolute best. We teamed up for an epic collaboration to merge our passions for unforgettable food experiences. Usually, Mercedes runs the show in her kitchen, but this time, she proudly stepped in as James’ baking apprentice!

Let’s be real—macarons are delicious in their own right (a sentiment a lot of you share!). But James’s creations? Life-changing. He is breaking barriers, dropping serious culinary knowledge, and showing us exactly why these delicate pastries are far from a “cheap cookie.” Between the masterclass and the patio taste-testing, the verdict was unanimous: unmatched! 🤌🏾

Ready to take a baking class with James? Hit up @doux_rendezvous!

Are YOU up for the next Kitchen Takeover with @mercjd? Let’s work!

✨ The Team:

👨🏾‍🍳 James Sutton - Head Baker & Co-Owner of Doux Rendezvous Bakery

👩🏾‍🍳 Mercedes Hobson - Host, Baker’s Apprentice & Owner of Mercedes Experience Catering

👧🏽 Brooklyne Sutton - Lead Taste Tester & Co-Owner of Doux Rendezvous

Life by Design: Refining the palate and the plan. 2026 is looking expensive. 🥂

I finally leaned into the tinned fish trend. Curiosity got the best of me, and like everything else I do, if I’m going in—I’m going all out.

The verdict? The sardines were a 4/10 for me (I really wanted to love them for the health benefits! 😩), but the experience was a 10/10. Every refined palate takes time to develop, so I’m not giving up yet—I’ll be running it back with a different catch next time.

2026 is about more “firsts,” better flavors, and putting this passport to work. ✈️🌍

A decade of tradition, connection, and gratitude! Our 10th Annual Thanksgiving Dinner, themed “A Seat at the Table: A Harvest of Gratitude, Love, and Legacy,” was truly a testament to the enduring power of family. The room was full, the memories were abundant, and the support was palpable.

The legacy of this dinner is built on the details: A special thank you to @Rhylista, our mother Tammy Allen, and @DianaDunn for the exquisite place settings and design that defined the space. And to @CalvinD for ensuring the vibes were right with the perfect score.

Here’s to the beautiful legacy we continue to build together, year after year. Thank you all our guests for filling my home with love, laughter, and great conversation.
