Busy as a bee but always making good food! Felt like a spring girl dinner tonight with a giant salad featuring radishes, peas, cucumbers, onions and tomatoes. Cooking in season allows me to be present with my food. Knowing it’s fresh, and grown close in proximity to my kitchen brings more life to the food than any seasoning.

This spring onion tart is by @chefreneeerickson and @saradickerman from their book Sunlight & Breadcrumbs. I opted to swap in leeks and asparagus and some fresh local duck eggs to create a beautiful and rich consistency within the tart.

You can bet I’ll be cooking out of this book all year.

Tried something new tonight. Chicken Congee. A traditional Chinese rice porridge. I used @cooking__therapy ‘s recipe, making my own stock and adding some toppings like fresh duck eggs, fried shallots and chili crisp.

Incredibly comforting, this will be on repeat at our house.

Had to hop on the jammy glazed focaccia trend I’ve been seeing. And you should too because this is absolutely amazing.

Use your fav focaccia recipe and cook per usual, and then all you need is some bomb jam (I’m using some homemade Bourbon Vanilla Cherry jam from some friends!), poke a few holes with a chopstick and fill them up!

The glaze is just powdered sugar, milk and a splash of vanilla. I also added sea salt to cut some of the sweetness and it was lovely. The whole loaf is like one massive glazed jelly donut.

This is what a typical dinner looks like for us.

Something simple, yet full of flavor. Prepping extra dressing for the week, taking in the soft moments of the evening. We end up landing on the couch with our plates full, a game in the background and likely a lettuce leaf that jumped off the plate.

Dinners at home are more than just the food; it’s who you share it with and the routines that bring you comfort.

I like my dinners like this the most. 🤍
