Hallelujah!! What a wonderful day at the Sewanee Bookstore with my good pals Jon Meacham and Kit “Crash” Walsh! It was so great to look out at a room full of old friends, new students, and familiar Sewanee faces!

Thank you to everyone who came out in the rain! Thank you to @wordofmouthprovisions for the delicious food! And thank you to the whole crew at the @sewaneebookstore. We had a ball! And we ran out of books! More are headed to the bookstore this week if you missed out. YSR!💜 taken in Sewanee: The University of the South by @meredeetch

This makes me feel hopeful and so heartened. As funding for schools and youth programs is being cut, people have been donating copies of Be Yourself and Other Bad Advice to schools and organizations serving girls across the country.

Boxes are now on their way to @southcumberlandcommunityfund in Tennessee, @girlsforbooks in San Antonio, @altadenagirls in California, and more! Thank you to everyone who has donated! by @meredeetch

⁣
Part guidebook, part pep talk, this book is packed with practical tools to help teens and young adults figure out who they are, navigate life's big questions, and build real confidence. Featuring a foreword by Amy Poehler and stunning illustrations by Nina Cosford, it's as lovely to look at as it is to read.⁣

What a great day at Regina Dominican High School in Wilmette, Illinois! The students did a great job laughing at my vintage pop culture references, and I had a ball with the teachers and administrators, who were so smart and funny. Thank you for having me—and a big thank you to our friends at @the_book_stall ! taken in Regina Dominican High School by @meredeetch

Growing up in Houston, we always had Texas Monthly in the house. We read and discussed the Bum Steer Awards, looked up restaurants in the back pages, and felt so proud when @stephenlclarkgallery ‘s restaurant, Waterloo Ice House (the original on Congress), made the recommended list. We knew someone cool!

I’ve loved TM for so long. Being included in the May issue makes my heart leap. Emily McCullar was cool as hell, funny, and such a pleasure to talk with. I’ll forever be a fan of her writing. Photographer @yopeteryang put me at ease after I asked him to make sure I wouldn’t look like Walter Matthau…..and he pulled it off! Seriously, he is a gifted artist.

I hope y’all will pick up a copy and read all the stellar writing within. And while you’re at it, go ahead and subscribe. Let’s support excellent print magazines like Texas Monthly. Having one in the house at all times is a good thing. by @meredeetch

This is Banjo. I didn’t have the heart to post about it before, but he died in March. He was equal parts super smart, a pain in the butt, and a lot of fun. I’m so glad we got to live with him. He was awesome. by @meredeetch
