Shamanism, matriarchy, the “reptile brain”, Mitochondrial Eve, Jungian archetypes, prehistoric hunter-gatherers, the Cognitive Revolution, cave-dwelling storyteller-magicians conducting rituals by firelight… if you’ve ever found yourself pondering these and similar ideas, I highly recommend this book. It’s fascinating, provocative and sometimes downright acerbic. The chapters on cave painting, tool making and patriarchy were the standouts for me, but the whole thing is a page turner 🤯 by @merlfluin

It was pure joy last night to tell stories of Padmasambhava at @southampton_buddhist_centre . Thank you Saddhabhaya, Nick and Dylan for creating a wonderful evening of music, stories and food. Huge thanks too of course to all the people who came along and took part so enthusiastically. And an especially honourable mention to my very kind friend @garavavati , who made sure I got home in one piece despite late-night Solent-crossing mayhem 🪷 by @merlfluin

Still buzzing from Thursday night, when I told Tarot Tales to a sold-out audience at @ventnorfringe Luckily all those people were willing victims when it came to a bit of audience participation, otherwise I would have looked a right chump.

Thanks to @paul_cowdell and @hollyofthestories for the photos, @montystoryteller and Clare the tech wizard for the tech support, and all the lovely folks who came along and shouted “After you, madam!” for absolutely making my night. by @merlfluin
