Hi! 👋 Are you one of the 1000 new friends on here? Well we’d like to introduce ourselves! We are Madeleine and Megan - the crafty Ms. We would never have guessed when we met six years ago that we would a) have the same dream of a bar/craft store/magical event space and then b) actually pull it off. We believe that creativity and crafting should be accessible to all, harmful to none, and fun. We are the only cafe plus full-service craft store plus community space (that we know of!!) and in the last 18 months since we opened our brick and mortar space in the very tip, top corner of DC, we’ve served 2907 cups of coffee, hosted over 200 workshops and events, celebrated more than 90 birthdays, and processed at least 10 bushels of donated yarn through our creative reuse program. Now, to be clear we have not done this alone. We’ve had help and support from so many people both formally and informally - family, friends, Kickstarter backers, customers, advisors, and our incredible team. We wouldn’t be here without them and now you! We are a women- and queer-owned small business and believe in a FREE DC. We’re excited to announce the yoga instructor joining us at Camp Merry: Laura Hope Standifer from @yogaheightsdc

Laura’s yoga journey began as a physical practice but grew into something much deeper. She pursued teaching as a way to share what yoga has brought to her, both on and off the mat. She uses the practice as a tool to explore effort without force, presence through breath, strength in stillness, and the ability to observe discomfort without judgment. For Laura, yoga is not about touching your toes, but about learning how to be in your body, sit with discomfort, and release the need for perfection.

Laura’s classes are an invitation to explore yoga as a personal practice rooted in curiosity rather than perfection. She offers an inclusive, grounding, and nurturing space, guiding students with accessible cues and options that support individual experience over rigid alignment.
#Her teaching encourages reflection, connection, and self-acceptance, fostering shared growth through a willingness to accept ourselves and others, knowing that the practice looks different for everybody and in your body on different days. Through this practice, her intention is simple for us to create a bit more peace in ourselves and the world around us.
