Saffron!!! You can grow your own right here in Maine. And you can buy your bulbs from us @merryspringnaturecenter. This fall planted bulb will bloom this November, a real treat when other fall planted bulbs won’t bloom until spring. The list of bulbs we have for sale will be available on our website later this week so stay tuned for a link and ordering info, which will also be sent to our newsletter subscribers.

Check out our website for more info on our upcoming events:

Learn about Maine Black Bears on Tuesday October 6th at 12pm with Caitlin Drasher.

Or come by on October 13th at 12pm for “Closing the Perennial Garden” with John Fromer.

And, fun for the whole family, there is a fall foliage walk October 16th at 10am.

If you can’t make any of those events, just come by and take a stroll through the fall gardens. We are open dawn to dusk everyday.

We are always grateful for volunteers helping out at Merryspring. This week a group from Camden National Bank helped mulch with woodchips our native tree and shrub border and lay gravel on the path by the parking lot and remove some weeds and brush. If you have a group that would like to volunteer with us, get in touch! by @merryspringnaturecenter

It’s so nice to have some zinnias in the garden finally! These are planted in our fenced Children’s Garden which has nicely protected them from the deer and groundhogs who love to eat them. That’s why you never see them growing mixed in our other flower beds at Merryspring.

Come check out our vegetable beds and these flowers as part of CamdenCAN’s Camden Rockport Food Garden Tour, it’s free and and will provide lots of inspiration for your own home garden.
