As June comes to a close, I am incredibly grateful to share that I have wrapped up my MBA journey. Taking time off social media in the last 6 months was a testament of the sacrifices that a degree of this magnitude required. I am officially a @sprottschool @carleton_u alumni.

The journey over the last two years has been exciting, intense and exhausting to say the least, but it paid off! I learnt so much, gained new friends and skills, and proved to myself that I could get it done. With the help and support of my family, my work colleagues and the grace of God.

In an ideal world, imagine you don’t have to choose between work and life. Imagine if work was designed around your life, and you had the flexibility to choose, which two are you choosing?

For me, option 1 is a no brainer! If I could take a month off during summer, and still have vacation days to use at Christmas, Easter or other family holidays, that will be the life! I dont even need 8 weeks to be honest , 6 weeks would be golden.

Second one I will choose will be the 6 hour work days. Either that or the 4 day work week. I don’t mind going into the office so I am definitely picking a six hour day, because I know I can get so much done in 6 hours; of course there will be less chitchatting and minimal distractions (which is hard when you are in office, but we will manage).

Two weekends ago, we had the pleasure of witnessing our friend @celine.ifedayo marry her boo, in such a beautiful intimate ceremony at Niagara on the Lake.

My multi talented bestie @kwin.okoye not only did the bride’s make up, but also sang the intro song as Dami walked down the aisle. What a moment!

My girl wrote a BOOK, y’all!! 📚

And not just any book… a whole ROMANCE novel 🥹

I unboxed it thinking sweet supportive friend moment. Few pages in, I’m fanning myself, sipping my water like it’s holy water, blushing at absolutely nothing.😍

The way I kept looking at the book like “SHE wrote this??” Yes she did.

I’m so proud I could honestly burst.
Watching your friend pour her heart into something and seeing it come to life???!

There’s nothing like it.

Brunch with my Uch babyyy! One of my closest friends, whom I haven’t seen since 2022! Uche is one of my biggest supporters and influences. She is the main reason I have a PMP and an MBA. She will always say “Mervis, we can do this thing, let’s go for it”. She helped me identify schools in Canada to pursue my MBA. She gave me application tips and walked that road with me.

When I wanted to give up on my MBA studies, she gingered me. She did hers while holding two toddlers and a full time job. So I had to suck it up and get it done. Uche is a very private person but I am lucky to have a front row seat to all that God is doing in her life and her family, and I am so blessed to be in her corner and to have her in mine.

I love you girl @ucheuju__ thanks for having me! As I always say, anytime we see, we will always have something to celebrate 🎉 In Jesus name, amen 🙏

Happy new month and hello October! 🎉🍁

Fall season feels like high energy, high productivity! Like we got to get all those goals achieved before the end of the year. And it can often lead to burnout if not handled with wisdom.

I decided to share some tips that have helped me achieve my goals as a high performing professional who has 3 children, 3 degrees and two careers.

I hope this helps someone who needs it. The key thing to remember is not to fix everything at once, choose one area and focus on changing that. Let everything else run on autopilot until you have achieved the goal and made it a part of your routine, then you move to the next area that needs improvement.

Years ago when we were planning to move to Canada, I was always mesmerized by photos and videos I saw from Banff and Lake Louise. I wondered if the color of the water was really that blue. I marveled at the size of the mountains.

Now, I am sitting right in the middle of an answered prayer, a dream that seemed so far at the time finally within my grasp. Lake Louise will always be one of my favorite places on earth.

And I am so blessed that it’s right in my backyard!

Where is that place that you have seen on social media and can’t wait to visit?? Mine is Lake Como in Italy!
