Space (or more accurately the lack thereof 🫢) eventually becomes a constraint for all of us in this hobby. For apartment growers - the majority of our club members - it’s even more of an acute issue. Many of us have found that narrowing the scope of one’s cultivation interest is the best way to maximize this precious resource. As new specialists develop, the overall breadth AND depth of knowledge within the club increases 🤗🌱🌵 That being said, it’s nice to also appreciate what one can do with more space. Through the gracious mediation of @astro_ranch we got a chance to visit the world renowned @mesagardenplants in New Mexico, where our VP Tyler got to indulge in his specialized interest: mesembs! (Quite a space efficient choice) The sheer variety and abundance of beautiful blooms (7-11) were accentuated with numerous stories from Steve Brack on his decades of field observation. It was special to witness this botanical institution in person, and especially to see the continued efforts of Aaron and @robr0926 to take up the torch. Wishing everyone a happy Friday, feel free to leave your favorite mesemb in the comments 🤠 #conophytum #mesembs #succulents #bloom #newyorkcactusandsucculentsociety by @mesagardenplants

Copiapoa mollicula FR525 sown in 1993 by Mesa Garden in a pot from @tomaworks.studio. I had other plans for this pot until I set this cactus in it to see what it looked like. I didn’t use my typical red topper because I didn’t want to take away from the pot or the plant. by @mesagardenplants
