Seventeen years ago, I met the love of my life. I had no idea how quickly this moment would come — standing on the edge of adulthood, watching the boy I once rocked to sleep wake himself up at 4 a.m. to chase his own dreams.

Ty, you amaze me. Your discipline when no one is watching. Your kindness when no one is asking. Your work ethic. Your manners. Your heart.

I watch you grind at the gym before sunrise, chase excellence on the golf course, write music, teach yourself the piano and guitar just because you want to, show up with grades that reflect your effort, and still find time to be funny, gentle, and thoughtful with everyone around you.

You are proof that character matters more than talent — and yet you carry both with such humility.

Parenthood is the most beautiful kind of time travel. You fall in love with someone who is constantly leaving one version of themselves behind while becoming someone new. I wish that there was a way to bottle time because I would bottle every version of you.

16 years ago at 6:52p, I started the greatest adventure of my entire life. And while I’ve been called many things throughout the years, Momma is definitely my favorite. If you have had the pleasure of meeting Ty, you already know how special he is. This child of mine is brilliant!! He is sweet and kind and funny and so responsible. I thank God every day for blessing me with such a magnificent human in this crazy little thing called life. Happy 16th Birthday Shmug. Homecoming Week ✨💜

Top 5 for Homecoming Court for Ty, a week full of memories, and one of those moments that makes you realize just how fast it all goes.

Some of these kids have known each other since they were in diapers. Now they’re seniors, still side by side, still laughing together, and getting ready to head out into the world.

There’s something really special about the Class of 2027. Beautiful kids, lifelong friendships, big personalities and even bigger futures ahead of them.

Tomorrow, Ty begins his senior year and with it comes the first of so many lasts.

His last first day of school. His last year of high school. The last football games, golf matches, school dances, and all the familiar moments I know I will wish I could experience just one more time.

I truly cannot believe we are already here.

They say time is a thief, and tonight I understand exactly what that means. Somehow, the little boy whose hand I once held while walking him into school has grown into this remarkable young man right before my eyes. It all went so unbelievably fast.

Watching Ty grow has been the greatest privilege and the biggest joy of my life. He is smart, talented, kind, funny, driven, and so completely himself. I could not be prouder of the young man he has become or more excited to see where life takes him next.

Shmugbug, you have always been the apple of my eye, my greatest love, and the absolute very best part of my life. Although this season brings a tenderness to my heart that is difficult to put into words, I am going to do my best to slow down, soak it all in, and treasure every single one of these lasts.

Tomorrow begins your senior year, baby. I’m not quite sure how we got here so quickly, but I am so incredibly proud to be your mom.
