A moment for the rooms if you will... by @mesaverdemotel

Four Friends, A Motel, A Story.

Sally & Matt have been together 10 years after a serendipitous meeting in an Alaskan bar. What followed was six years of navigating a long-distance relationship, spanning between the USA and New Zealand, and later, between Colorado and Alaska.
Now at the Mesa Verde Motel, they not only live but also work side-by-side every day, pouring their shared passion and talents into the property. They find time to hike, camp, fish, hunt, and travel abroad. Their life together is a testament to adventure and partnership.

Matt and Sonia's 12-year journey together has been a vibrant life built through entrepreneurship and family in Durango, Colorado. They've always shared a deep love for travel, adventure, and the great outdoors. Now, they're embracing a new chapter, ready to slow down together, savor life's moments, and wholeheartedly pursue and support their individual passions.

The journey to the Motel began in 2011 on the tropical shores of Grand Cayman Island, where Sonia and Sally, both working as nannies, formed an instant friendship filled with fun, that endured both moving on to other countries and careers.

In 2017, Sally & Matt moved to Durango, down the street from Sonia and Matt, and the idea of a joint business venture was being dreamed and schemed by the two girls.

Fast forward to 2021 when Sonia had the ambitious idea to acquire the historic Mesa Verde Motel in Mancos, Colorado. It didn't take much to convince the rest of the team to take the leap on purchasing the motel and becoming business partners. Since then, they've poured their hearts into extensive DIY renovations and a complete rebranding, even adding an on-site coffee shop and cocktail lounge. Their hearts continue to be set on building spaces that both travelers and locals can love and enjoy.

They hope their story will inspire others to follow their own crazy dreams and renovate historic motels with their best friends. Or just stay in historic motels with their best friends. Either way, live your dream, and thanks for following along! by @mesaverdemotel

‼️Award Winner ‼️ Sally, one of the owners here at Mesa Verde Motel and the onsite General Manager, has been selected as the winner of the Frontline Hospitality Tourism Worker Award- from the Colorado Governor's office of Tourism.
She will be recognized by the Governor at the State Tourism Conference in Sept in Crested Butte. This award is for those who have made significant contributions in delivering excellence in hospitality for Colorado's Tourism industry.
She also placed in the Top 3 for the Governor's Rising Star Award. This award recognizes an individual who is new to the tourism industry – within the last five years – and has shown leadership, commitment, and a passion for Colorado’s tourism industry.

Sally says " I am blown away to be recognized and recieve this award, especially as a newcomer to the Tourism sector and being located in such a small rural area, competing against much larger and more established partners. I wouldn't be able to give so much to my role without my incredible business partners, so this is really for all of us!"
