POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Many of us have been saddened by the recent passing of former Lansing Mayor David Hollister. Mayor Hollister was an influential leader who made a significant impact on the Lansing community and his legacy lives on in the city we know today.

We had the privilege of working closely with Mayor Hollister on a documentary in 2015 entitled, Second Shift: From Crisis to Collaboration. In 1996, General Motors announced their plans to leave the Lansing area. This move would have led to the loss of local operations, resulting in the loss of thousands of jobs and major tax revenue. This documentary focused on the incredible work that Hollister and the other leaders in Lansing did through the Lansing Works movement to persuade GM to remain in the city.

This documentary will be broadcasted on WKAR on Monday, October 19th at 10:00pm and Friday, October 23rd at 6:00pm. We are excited to have the chance to highlight the work that Mayor Hollister accomplished and hope everyone will have a chance to check it out. by @messagemakers

Something historic is happening in Old Town Lansing right now, and wherever you are, you can still be part of it.

Since 10 a.m. Monday, musicians from across the Midwest have been playing nonstop at UrbanBeat in an attempt to set the record for the world's longest continuous jam session. The mark to beat is 57 hours. That falls at 7 p.m. ET tonight, and they're aiming to keep going and even push past 60 hours total.

At least three musicians on stage at all times. No breaks. No pre-recorded music. Dozens of genres. Nearly three days and counting.

It's free and open to the public. Head down to UrbanBeat this evening to watch the record fall in person, or catch the livestream at volume.com/t/CL2X2l

We're proud to be a sponsor of The Longest Jam alongside MICA and UrbanBeat. This is what Old Town does best: pull a community together around something that shouldn't be possible and make it happen anyway. by @messagemakers
