I’m grateful to be celebrating another year of life today, and if you’re wondering what you can get me for my birthday, I actually have a request. We just launched the very first issue of the Habeshas for Mental Health, a new recurring newsletter from @bbfmentalhealth. 💜

Read our first issue. Subscribe, Like, and Share 🙏🏾

Help us get this information in front of someone who may need it. This foundation and its mission are deeply personal to my family and me, so seeing our community support and engage with the newsletter would genuinely mean more to me than any birthday gift.

Education thrives when basic needs are met—and together, we’re turning that belief into action. 🇪🇹✨

The Distant Relatives Project is proud to launch our next initiative in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, where we are transforming Dejazmach Geneme Primary Schoolinto a more supportive, inspiring, and creative learning campus. This project includes expanding learning spaces, building a dedicated library, and restoring access to clean water—improvements that will positively impact over 3,000 students, families, and community members.

The work is officially underway, with completion anticipated in early Spring. We are deeply grateful to our partners, supporters, and community for making this possible and for your continued commitment to developing and empowering underserved communities around the world.

Together, we’re not just building infrastructure—we’re building opportunity. 🌍📚💧 taken in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia by @messai_

In 2019 we made a pledge to support Felege Elders Development Association (FEDA), a nursery home and shelter for the elderly in Ethiopia. 🇪🇹

Since then, we’ve not only renovated their facility, installing plumbing lines, toilets and other essential appliances but also donated over 25,000 pieces of medical and cleaning supplies.

The Distant Relatives Project is excited to announce that we’ve added diapers to the list and donated 5,000 adult diapers last month!

To learn more about our commitment to FEDA and how you can get involved, visit distant-relatives.org/ethiopia!
