At first glance, it’s just a grey Stone Island jacket.
Then the light hits it.
This 2011 Liquid Reflective jacket is coated with thousands of tiny glass particles designed to bounce light back towards its source. Each piece was also hand-sprayed with colour, creating an uneven finish that made every jacket slightly different.
The problem is that these early reflective coatings don’t always age well. Cracking, peeling and deterioration are common, which makes surviving examples increasingly hard to find.
A good example of what Stone Island does best: taking something functional and turning it into something collectible. by @messinahembry
