Roe v Wade just got struck down in the US. It’s beyond belief that we still live in an era where women don’t have equal choice over their bodies. The fact that our team won a Gold Lion in Glass, the Lion category dedicated to ideas that fight for gender equality within an hour of the news breaking makes this win that much more special and impactful. Morning After Island is putting Honduras at the forefront of the critically necessary change that conservatives NEED to make around the world to fix this terrible issue. And personally, it’s even more special that for the first time in 10 years of doing this job, my mother was here with me to celebrate with us, especially for this project. Today I took a breath to do touristy things while I’m in London. But, instead of being a usual tourist, I beelined right through the Victoria & Albert Museum to visit an epic project I’m incredibly lucky and proud to have been apart of. The flag I’m pointing at has become the universal flag for Refugees. It’s raised above all refugee camps around the world. It’s used in the Olympics for refugee athletes who have no country to represent. It’s become the symbol of a new nation—flying between the Pride flag and the new European Union flag designed back in 2002. They all exist within a permanent collection amongst art and relics of ancient history at this globally famous museum as well as many others just like it around the world. It’s ideas like these that drive my life long passion. It’s ideas like these that make people think I’m crazy for going all out to make sure the impossible turns into reality. It’s ideas like these that make me the proudest @Ogilvy employee in our global network. I need to be very clear here—I didn’t come up with the idea. All I did was fight with the team of creatives that were given constant no’s from everyone they presented it to… including the International Olympic Committee and beyond. All I did was everything I could to support and power through all the no’s to turn them into yes’s. It’ll be a life long honor and appreciation that I owe to these legends behind the original idea that invited me into it: @rmmoran @arturlipori @elchavalillo @imensoltani @gilkuruneri @bastienbaumann @belen_chuty @carorebello @renatotagliari @eduardolied @amarian75 @corinnafalusi It’s important that we support refugee communities around the world more and more every day because what’s happening in Ukraine now and what was happening in Afghanistan, Syria, and many other countries during the inception of @the.refugee.nation is constantly happening to millions of people elsewhere that are being displaced by evil that exists well beyond their control. We must always remind ourselves how lucky we are to have a home… or even just a flag or a national anthem. “Our goal from day one was to have an anti-wedding-wedding. Minimal traditional wedding, maximal fun & celebration of our love.” Kim and Harley’s commitment to authenticity was in every fashion choice down to their decision to have the wedding at their summer home in Southampton. Harley’s mother refused about 15 wedding requests for the property. It was saved for him so it was extremely special for her and her husband to host. “A lot of the inspiration for design/creative decor was inspired by her and the general vibe of the house/property,” Kim described. There was fashion, art, no strict timeline, and absolutely nothing controlled or directed. Most of all, the couple wanted it “to be the most fun party where people dance, celebrate and leave with positive memories of an epic time.” A huge thank you Kim and Harley for making me believe again, to your parents for opening your home, your LA friends for bringing the heat, Rudney and the team for the support and coverage, and Kim (my girl) your undying energy. Deadheads are one big family, and we’re all feeling the recent loss of @bobweir. I’ve had multiple incidents in my career where at first there was friction with a new hire or team member until the moment we found out they were deadheads. The power of their music and the immediate brand association cuts through weeks, if not years of getting to know someone. There’s something about @gratefuldead culture that isn’t only trippy but uniting. To think about the level of influence they’ve had on pop culture in general is far greater than I think people realize. Losing Bob Weir was a deep hit and I know many of my peers are feeling it. Instead of being down on it, we’re all turning up the volume to ensure the music never stops... A simple discussion while meeting @donnyd13 in Cannes a couple years ago led to what will be a lifelong friendship and a business partnership. I proposed to my fiancée, @k.autuori, at Grateful Dead 60. We brought @natedavidovich along and a few other close friends too. @trixiecal became an older sibling I never had during an Absolut pitch simply because she found out my dog’s name is Althea. And Donny too. He even agreed to be our wedding officiant this past weekend. It’s almost like an invisible DNA dipped in LSD that creates a weirdly deep family dynamic and influences connections and creative inspiration. There’s something we all can learn from them. You kept the time while the wild notes flew, held the frame while the picture grew. Not for the spotlight, not for the crown— just to keep the long song coming around. You knew the give, you knew the take, when to bend, when not to break. Through every turn, through rise and fall, you showed us how to carry it all.
