How does METHOD. work?

Connect your wearables, share your goals, and METHOD. starts building a picture of your training and your life.

From there, it adjusts constantly. A bad night’s sleep turns a threshold session into an easy ride, or a rest day. Let it know about a late finish at work, and it adapts around that too.

Recovery data and your own input decide when to push and when to hold back. The plan moves with you, not the other way round.

The methodology comes from almost a decade of coaching athletes, from amateur to professional. AI just means it’s checking in constantly, not once a day.

Every training plan is only as good as the methodology behind it.

METHOD. is built on Max Stedman’s methodology. Max self coached for cycling from the age of 14. He became a national champion at 16. Then he turned professional at 19 alongside studying Sport and Health Sciences at Exeter.

With 13 UCI wins and four selections Great Britain, including two World Championships this methodology has been tested at the highest level.

With a family history of running at an international level, this methodology is now being applied alongside a deep, holistic knowledge of running at the highest level.

Max has coached professional riders towards some of the biggest races in the sport including the Tour de France Femmes. That is the coaching you get inside METHOD. The waitlist is open. Link in bio. by @method_endurance

Here is your first look inside METHOD.

The plan adapts to how you slept, how ready your body is, where you are in your menstrual cycle and what phase of training you are in. On mornings when everything lines up, the hard work goes ahead. When it doesn’t, the plan changes automatically with that.

The sessions come from coaching at the top level of the sport, set and adjusted to the level you are at right now.

If you want to know why today looks the way it does, ask Coach M. in the chat. You’ll get a specific answer based on your own data.

The analysis page shows how your fitness, fatigue and sharpness are moving over the weeks, so you can see the progress as it happens.

METHOD. is coming soon to iOS and the Google play store. Join the waitlist through the link in our bio to hear first when we go live. by @method_endurance

Most riders we speak to have tried a training plan at some point and plenty of them did exactly what it asked and still had issues.

With athletes we know it is rarely a discipline problem. The problem is that a plan is written before your week has started. A generic plan doesn’t know you slept four hours on Monday, or that your heart rate was way higher than normal on Wednesday’s easy ride.

A coach would see that and adapt your training. The catch is that one-to-one coaching can cost upwards of £250 a month, which puts it out of reach for most people training around a job.

That’s why we built METHOD., it is Max’s coaching methodology, developed across years of coaching and racing at the highest level, applied to you. Applied to your sleep, HRV, how you feel and the time you actually have and all this for £15 a month. #trustthemethod by @method_endurance

How fast can an ex professional cyclist run @runshoreditch half marathon? It turns out, very.

He trained for it with the same methodology inside METHOD. and finished 7th in 1:11:30.

SURPRISE! Austria round 2🔔🇦🇹& METHOD. early access sign up & free trial in my profile 🙆‍♀️ with cycling being the biggest proportion of triathlon, and the one I was newest to starting out, I feel so silly not to have had more guidance in it sooner🙃 but you live and you learn (or I do for you hehe)

I’ve been so scared to get a coach for cycling; thinking I’d have to explain not only to myself when I “fail” a session because of how manic life is, but also to them, and honestly the embarrassment and ££ put me off entirely. But now I’ve found METHOD. 🕺 running AND cycling, but that’s not all… it’s a plan that adapts your training to your body & life. Whether that’s your menstrual cycle, your work rota, quality of sleep, or HRV that week. And the best part is it’s actually affordable (even for students like me🤠)

ps. Ofc I’ll still be using my FORM goggles to give me swim sessions!!! So between the two I’ve got all three disciplines covered for student friendly prices🕺🕺

Max has spent years coaching riders one-to-one. The trouble is that most people can never afford to pay £250 a month for it.

The usual alternative is a generic plan at around £10 a month. It’s written once, and it has no idea you slept four hours on Tuesday.

METHOD. sits between the two, at £15 a month. It runs on Max’s coaching methodology, the same one developed for riders at UCI level. It connects to your Garmin, WHOOP, or other wearable and adjusts your training to your readiness each day. It also plans around your menstrual cycle.

It isn’t Max, and we won’t pretend it is but it’s the way he coaches and it’s available to anyone with a phone. by @method_endurance

Two days of low HRV is not a reason to stop training. It is a reason to move the hard efforts.

Tuesday’s VO2 session goes to Thursday. Today is 45 minutes easy. The week keeps the bits that really matter.

We have all trained hard all week and then still finish it feeling like you failed…

The plan was looking dreamy on Sunday night. Then Tuesday cane and your meeting overran, you got out late, and the intervals turned into forty minutes instead of seventy-five.

Wednesday you felt better than expected, so the endurance ride went a bit long. Thursday was gone before it began. You had to collect the kids, then cook, and by the time the house was quiet there was no time left in the day.

Friday you rode to clear your head and it quietly turned into something firmer than easy and then Saturday the group went the long way home, and you were never going to be the one to turn off early.

By Sunday the week looked nothing like the one you had written. Different days, different sessions, different order. The load came out at 47.9 against a planned 50.0.
That is the bit a static plan cannot see. It only knows what it asked for.

M.Score scores what you actually did, session by session, so next week is built from the week you managed rather than the week you were supposed to have. by @method_endurance

The riders who improve are not always the ones with the standout sessions. In our experience they are the ones who managed to stay consistent throughout an entire block.

In a five-year study of international track and field athletes, those who completed more than 80% of their planned training weeks were seven times more likely to hit their goal. One bad night, one bad session or one bad day at work do not and should not cost you your week’s training.

METHOD. moves your hard sessions to the days you can absorb them, so one problem costs you a session and not a week.

“Just ride Zone 2” is probably the most repeated line in cycling, and it is not always wrong.

Hours below LT1 are where the mitochondrial and cardiovascular adaptations come from, and there is very little that replicates them with the same effectiveness.

The issue is what people do with this information. Zone 2 gets quoted as a band, usually somewhere between 56% and 75% of FTP. That is a huge range! LT1 is the line all of hype is built on, and it sits in a different place for every athlete.

Ride well under it and the session is too easy to move the needle. Ride over it and you are picking up fatigue without the adaptation you went out for. We aim for you to be just under LT1.

For most riders that lands around 65 to 70% of FTP, and higher for well trained ones. Same instruction, very different session depending on where your line actually is.

That is the part METHOD. is built to solve. We estimate your LT1 rather than handing you a chart and hoping.
