🚨 ATTENTION MET LEAGUE ATHLETES, PARENTS & GUARDIANS 🚨

Following national updates from England Athletics, age group categories and race timetables are changing for the upcoming 2026/27 Metropolitan Cross Country League season!

📌 Key Highlights:
• Junior categories are now U12, U14, U16 & U18 (calculated as of 31/08/2027).
• Athletes must be over 10 years old on 31/08/2027 to compete.
• FU16 & FU18 now run together as Junior Women at 12:32.
• MU16 & MU18 are now separate races (12:30 & 12:50).

⚠️ You must compete in your designated age group to avoid disqualification.

❓ Questions? Club reps & team managers have been fully consulted and can confirm your correct category. Please do not message Met League Admin directly.

On this day in 1966 eight clubs attended a meeting at the Primrose Public House in Bishopsgate, Ealing Harriers (now Ealing, Southall & Middlesex AC), Essex Beagles (now Newham & Essex Beagles AC), Hampstead Harriers (now Barnet & District AC), Highgate Harriers, Ilford AC, Polytechnic Harriers (now Kingston & Polytechnic AC), Thames Valley Harriers and Woodford Green AC (now Woodford Green with Essex Ladies AC) and the Metropolitan Cross Country League was formed.

RACE 5 CANCELLED

It is with deep regret, but after 2 course inspections, it has been deemed unsafe, so the race is cancelled.

The decision to cancel has not been taken lightly. We understand it's cross-country and you should expect it to be tough, so why cancel because it is a bit wet?

Having just been up to Trent Park myself. It isn't a case of a few puddles and us being over-cautious. The start and finish lines, as well as the assembly area, are waterlogged.

The course itself has standing water and thick mud, and this is before 400+ runners hit it.

The access road is also flooded. Whilst still passable, not sure what this would be like tomorrow afternoon.

Trent Park is a tough course at the best of times, and I struggled to walk around it. At race pace in a group, the risk of injury is high, and the medical team would struggle to reach a casualty.

We were really looking forward to concluding the league tomorrow, but our primary concern is the athletes' safety.
