Trying to paint after so many years away and with a new medium is difficult, but I'm having fun with the challenge. I always wanted to be creative as a kid, and I won't say it was outright discouraged but definitely limited. When I was in recovery in the military for some injuries, the therapists wanted us to try painting and stuff as therapy, but I was to angry to relax into it... Plus I don't wanna art if you want me to art. The last few years I've slowly enjoyed getting into it. I'm having a lot of fun getting to explore different mediums. This was guache on canvas. It's the Grand canal at Versailles. In the summer of 2015, I took my then girlfriend on a trip to Paris for two weeks. It had been my favorite city for a decade at that point. On the second day, I took her to the Eiffel Tower and proposed at the top. The next day we were married at the Luxembourg Gardens by the Medici fountain (I had planned for months). But we went to Versailles on a day trip twice over the remainder of the trip, and I rowed my new bride on a boat along the canal. Its hard to pick a moment or memory more vibrant or vivid than all the rest on a trip like that, but this one is among the brightest one and it's probably the one she has most talked about since... Also, how blessed is it to have a partner that still gushes over something you did for them nearly 12 years later. by @metroplexmanofhope

Remembering Christopher Reeve on what would have been his 74th birthday. I don't put much weight on celebrity, but Reeve defined a role in a way that changed multiple mediums of art. His performance with Donner influenced not only comics and their art and writing but paved the way for the comic movies that several generations now have and enjoy, as well as influencing film as a whole. But he was so much more than a man who could make you believe a man could fly. His and Dana's Foundation helps spinal injuries and is fighting to improve the quality of life and care for spinal injuries and paralysis. As a spinal injury myself, having an upper thoracic spinal fracture during my time in the service, this is near and dear to my heart as well, and it is no unnoticed irony that my mental health and physical therapy following my injuries were grounded in equestrian therapy. Feel free to share in the comments what Reeve has meant to you. by @metroplexmanofhope
