POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

4 years ago I was given this greenstone pendant from my whanau in Aotearoa. It was held and blessed by family and gifted to me from Miriama Corbett and her whanau. She gave with these words:

"You asked what it means? Firstly it's a taonga/gift from our Creator, it began it's journey as one piece of a larger Mother lode and it has no doubt lots of siblings carved out to be gifted and worn proudly. It would've been given karakia from the time the Mother piece was seen and retrieved from the Whenua/Earth or waters it lay in. Karakia/prayers and blessings would've taken place through out it's journey to you. When we were searching it chose us to choose it for you and with it came our blessings of aroha/love Kaha/strength kaitiaki/guardian mo kourua, it will look out for you as you will care for it and keep each other safe especially when you return back to Minnesota until your hokingamai back to Aotearoa/New Zealand with many adventures and memories made along the way. Have your friends and whanau hold it, so that you will always have their love and warmth wherever you go. With all of that it really is a blank canvas and it is you who will give it your story and meaning throughout the days of your life💚💚💚

I wear it all the time. And I listened and put it in the hands of close friends. It has been in the hands of dying friends and it also holds the tears of crying friends. I hold it and am grateful for all the love I've been blessed with. The road has sometimes been hard, but I know my ancestors have my back.

I can't rave enough about the artist known as The White Buffalo. Here's a little something that reminds me of mom towards the end.
