A strange storybook enthusiast spellbound by fairytale nostalgia, Elena May SJ (aka meybees) is a KL-based illustrator, designer, and comicker. In their creative world, the mundane becomes extraordinary, and the ordinary becomes magical; through vivid digital watercolour, their work explores the intersections between childhood whimsy and grown-up grief. Within a practice that gleefully skips between children’s books, merchandising, comics, and the realm of 2D animation, their most notable works include the comic and hidden object book Catastrophe!, about an eldritch size-shifting cat; and ANGLE, a semi-fictional graphic memoir about a sulking anthropomorphised ankle (originally published for the Shortbox Comics Fair). As a homegrown illustration brand, meybees features a curious collection of bookmarks, stickers, comic books, zines, stationery, and keychains—touring in-person for the first time beyond KL at George Town Illustration Festival! A random side quest 🧭 - stopping by MIXUE and participating in their 3rd Annual Drawing Contest! 🎨With a chance to win RM3000, it was a fun way to spend an afternoon and exercise my creative muscles :> I decided to draw some fun local animals doing normal human things! To join, you can either: 🥤 Order any drink in-person at a store for at least RM6, and receive a physical draft paper 🍀 Doing the above entitles you to enter an additional LUCKY DRAW via QR code! 🌐 Or download the official drawing template online! 📨 Post on Instagram / TikTok, use #waubersamasnowking and tag @mixuemalaysia and make sure to submit the official form too! See you all on the next adventure 🤠 #waubersamasnowking @mixuemalaysia #drawingcompetition #art by @meybees
