Watching the @protourstu mini ramp contest was like watching someone playing a skate video game. 95% of the guys would do a run with 15-20 tricks and pop out. It was crazy, nobody was falling. Every guy ripped, and was staying on! Judging this contest would’ve been a bloody nightmare. I only got clips from 4 guys, but all the other guys in the contest were just as good. 🤯 I tagged @steven_pineiro and @pedrocarvalhosk8 , but I didn’t know the other two guys, tag’em if you know’em. I told the guy in all black after the contest that I thought he ripped it.🔥The smith to front rock and backside boneless to disaster was ✨💫! It’s always fun watching @steven_pineiro skate anything. Super powerful, smooth and he’s got a great bag of tricks no matter what terrain he’s skating on. The mini ramp skating at this contest was just as impressive as the vert and street skaters always are from Brazil ! 🔥🔥🤯🇧🇷

On my way to the airport, had a great time in São Paulo. I bruised my ribs 2 weeks ago on a dive from the extension to the flat bottom, and I didn’t think I was gonna be able to make this trip. Glad I did. Got to meet some new friends, got to skate with some old ones, and got to go back to Brazil again for the first time in over 15 years. The skate scene here never ceases to amaze me. If the United States fell off the map, Brazil would still be just fine! They would still have a thriving skate scene and culture regardless. The level of skating from the skaters in Brazil rivals any other country, including Japan. They’ve built thier own scene from the ground up. They have their own skate magazines, their own skate videos, skate brands, thier own legends ( just like our Hawks, Cabs, Mountain and Mcgills) and a fanatical skate crowd willing to sit for hours in the pouring rain , just for the chance to watch a contest. The pros from Brazil ( street, vert and mini ramp) are just as good as any American pros, if not better. 🙌! I watched the @protourstu pro mini ramp contest on Saturday and was mind blown. 🤯I haven’t seen mini ramp skating like that in probably 20 years. It was like watching @colinmckay and @dannyway skating mini ramps in their old plan B video parts! 🔥🔥 Every one of the guys in that contest was as good or better than any pros I’ve ever seen! I only knew who 1 of them ( @steven_pineiro ) was, the rest were from Brazil and it was my first seeing most of them skate. There’s THAT many guys in Brazil that are THAT good! 🔥🔥Thanks for coordinating everything @claratekid , you made everything smooth and seamless ! The ramp was awesome @diassandro , it was great skating with you, @runeglifberg @andymac720 @0_1_4_9_ and @karenjonz! 👊💥, Thanks for having us out @skatetotalurbe @protourstu , I had a blast! Last but not least, thanks to all the Brazilian skaters for the hospitality… Obrigado… Viva Brazil!! 🇧🇷❤️

This is my first trip back to Brazil in close to 20 years. Always loved this country, and the voracious skate scene. Such a rich skate culture with tons of history and Brazilian OG’s that helped pave the way.

Without a doubt, Brazil has one of the best vert scenes ever . So many guys rip here , too many to name. All of the younger , newer generation guys are on fire!! @gui_khury @italopenarrubia @pedrobarrossk8 @ronygomes @dansabinosk8 @th0mas.augusto and many, many more. Three of my all time favorites that I grew up skating with for the last 35+ years are @bobburnquist , @dyoueda and this guy, @diassandro . Sandro skates the ramp a million miles an hour , edge to edge, like a rabid pit bull. He skates as fast as Schroeder used to, with the power and light footed finesse of Tom Boyle, and the 9-10 ft airs @christianhosoi . If he’s not one of your favorites to watch as soon as he drops in on the ramp, it’s ok… that just means skateboarding is probably not for you! 🫵 🤷‍♂️ 🤣

I met @runeglifberg 36 years ago in Denmark 🇩🇰, the first time I went to Europe for @powellperalta . I skated a park in Copenhagen called Fellepargen ( I know I butchered the spelling 🤦‍♂️) with he and @guroman68 , @mikemanzoori and Casper Plass might have been there also. 36 years later, and Rune hasn’t skipped a beat! Still ripping as hard as he ever did.🔥Some things never change… 🔥 Come out this weekend to the @skatetotalurbe contest and demo in São Paulo …🇧🇷🔥🔥

I remember learning this trick the same night @tonyhawk learned kick flip McTwist 34 years ago on the old indoor ramp at @spottampa in Tampa. Tony was on a mission to learn kickflip 540’s and came to Tampa just to get it done! The park closed for the evening, and Tony and I each started trying our tricks ,me kick flip 360 indy, Tony kick flip McTwist. We had @mystaticlife filming both of us. Speaking for myself, I felt like I was doing f#cking stair master. Bail, walk up the stairs….Bail, walk up the stairs… Bail, walk up the stairs.. I must have tried it 35-40 times. There was no giving up, we both finally made our tricks, Tony made the kick flip 540, I made mine I think next try. STOKED.. We both learned new tricks, and Josh Got’em on film.. Now fast forward 34 years later, @gui_khury can do it every try on command. He dropped into one first wall and then finished a full run. 🤯 I asked him to do another one, he dropped in and made it again..first wall, as easy as rock fakie… 🤯 @skatetotalurbe 🇧🇷

Sometimes you’re the windshield, other times you’re the bug!💥 Seems like I’ve had my fair share of being the bug lately. I’ve had as much time rehabilitating from injuries at age 54 in the last year as I have had over the last 45 years skating. Between the broken ribs and ankle mountain biking ( 6 weeks out) , the broken humerous ( plate and screws 10 weeks out ) on an over rotated good buddy, torn rotator cuff ( 3-4 weeks out) on a 1/2 stale fish shoulder check into the transition.🤦‍♂️With all these injuries, time off, rehab, and lots of icing for various broken/ inflamed body parts has been my regiment. Just wanted to thank the guys at @oldbonestherapy for all the support through all these injuries. They have an ice pack made specifically for every body part. This shoulder ice pack is a god send, but they make stuff for ankles, wrist, sleeves for elbow/ forearm or you can slide it over your calf/ankle or knee.
