Dear Rodolfo,
Yesterday was the worst pain I have ever had to experience in my entire life. I promised I would be there no matter what and when the time came there was nowhere I would have rather been than there holding your hand to help you peacefully transition from one plane to the next. We spent 10 years growing up together. High school, college, all the way through our twenties taking on life together as partners. We helped each other grow into the best versions of ourselves and pushed each other every day to pursue our creative passions. You bought me my first camera. I saw your talent and pushed you to pursue barbering. We went to hundreds of concerts, made music together, skated together, played soccer together, became powerlifters together, rock climbed together, honestly played every sport together, traveled together, you taught me how to play bass and I taught you how to use your own camera. And we experienced so many more “firsts” side by side unafraid to try because no matter what we had each other’s backs. We were best friends. You showed me what true love felt like and I had you for 10 amazing years and I feel so incredibly grateful and proud to have called you my partner in life. You touched hundreds of lives and had such a way with words. You made friends everywhere you went, could talk to anyone about anything at all and make people see things in themselves that they never knew. So many people love you. You lived life fully and had the strongest fighting spirit I have ever encountered in my entire life. You showed me what it looks like to go for what you want relentlessly. Even through chemo (which was the strongest chemo your oncologist had ever given anyone btw) you were still cutting hair, lifting weights, skated, rock climbed off the side of a fucking mountain, boxed, played in a soccer league, all while still showing up for everyone around you. I will carry you with me every single day and continue to make you proud. I love you so much, more than I can ever explain. Can’t wait to meet in the next life for joyrides in the El Camino.
There’s always change, but you and I will remain. Sin miedo. by @mfshoots
