UNITED WE STAND‼️

Middle Georgia United defends the 478 against traveling team Atlanta Ignite after securing ➕3️⃣ Points on the evening.

Temperatures were soaring past 98 degrees yesterday at East Laurens High School as both teams battled it out for the spot to the Championship Final.

As the match kicked off, Middle Georgia United’s fortune started well with a quick attack in the opening minutes as Atlanta Ignite saw 🔴 from a DOGSO event. Forcing a corner kick, MGA United’s Chris Bowen opened their account after converting the chance taken by Santi Alvarez in the 5th minute of the match.

Just like the heat of the evening, Atlanta Ignite brought it as they struck back 3 minutes later leveling the match on even ground.

At the 40th minute, MGA’s Jackson Smith charged down the flanks as he started an attacking chance by finding Louis Cole at the tail end of the post before squaring up a goal for Santi Alvarez, putting the 478 up 2-1.

Going into the second half, MGA United took advantage of Atlanta Ignite’s open space as a dangerous opportunity unfolded around at the 52nd minute as Louis Cole and Santi Alvarez linked up to put Middle Georgia United leading 3-1.

Another goal from Middle Georgia United came on the 77th minute after a switch play found David Ortiz on the right side of the pitch. From the 20 yard mark, David sent in a hard cross towards the box as it took a bounce before finding Bryce Marlin connecting onto it, giving MGA a 3 goal cushion.

Towards the tail end of the match at the 84th minute, Middle Georgia United seals the win after a blunder from Atlanta Ignite’s keeper finding the feet of Louis Cole as he picked a pass onto Asher McConnell path, nailing the 5-1 result.

Middle Georgia United hosts Georgia Athletic SC on Sunday July 5th for the Championship Final!

Be sure to catch the action for the 478!
