Had a really memorable week of workouts - 9 classes this week at both TFA and F45 Langford. Rode my bike to the studio for a very special dog portrait session. Sweeping the studio after the session and I felt really pretty - so I took some photos of myself. by @mhnecha

Core memory moment. Experience nature with people you care about.

Thank you Rob for sharing your family whale watching adventure with me.

@hashtagcoachrob
@princeofwhaleswhalewatching

When I was deciding what lense to take - I thought of taking my 70-200mm telephoto lense. It would be the perfect lense to photograph wildlife that’s farther away. BUT it would be a horrible lense to grab footage of Rob and his family sitting in the zodiac right next to me. So I left the telephoto lense at home and thought “I’d rather have really good memorable video of my friends - that’s priority over any whale I would be blessed to see”. I mounted the 50mm and left my studio to meet up with Rob.

What I got to experience - l’ll never forget - I was in tears watching this majestic whale swim around and under our zodiac boat for over 30minutes 😭

Such a life moment for me… in so many ways.

Drawn ever closer, Shadows of the past - fade and bright existing together.

“memories.. our sides… as we fade in and out of ourselves. Coming closer or is it going farther?… Perhaps both existing together is.. And to accept that it is a beautiful symbiotic contrast”

September in Review - this has probably been the busiest month ever - and for anyone that knows me, that’s not me saying “busiest month of clients”. It’s been the busiest month of life downs and life ups, shared milestones from my community, core memory from family moments… bucket list ideas realized (like the TFA Tailgate BBQ)

After meeting the TF45 2.0 Montage Film deadline and seeing that posted, my whole system crashed. Not in a negative way - but like one of those moments in a film, where the protagonist has her arms full of puppies.. fighting past fire and smoke… she rises out of the ashes, as she’s greeted by the handsome firefighters… and the puppies are taken one by one, the weight getting lighter and lighter with each owner being rejoined with their loved one…

Looking down, she notices something protruding from her thigh, wondering “oh how long has that pipe been stuck there?”

True story, rewind us back to last Friday. I’m at the underground parkade race. I setup my gimbal. I stretch, then start my strides. Sharp pain shoots into my right quad. I hit it with my fist a couple times and try again. Nope. Can’t run.

I quickly go up to my friend Tyler who had his whole team there tuning up the runners and said “Tyler I need your help, it’s really serious.. we are 15min before the first heat starts, and I can’t put any power in my right leg”

In my memory I want to believe he was eating donut and as soon as he heard me say thst, he threw it at the wall while simultaneously lifting me onto the physiotherapist table.

His on location assessment and treatment allowed me to run again that night. Chasing after the fastest runners in the parkade.

Me taking the two days off IG was an extension of that. While Tyler treated my body, I treated my mind and capacity.

To all the heroes out there (I know many of you) please use the super powers for yourself too - they were gifts given to you to help you.. so you can help others.

Monica💕

(I should probably re-read this so it makes cohesive sense - but well, welcome to the way my brain articulates - let’s keep it natural and true my friends. The lows this month truely were terrible - but the highs - WOW by @mhnecha

TF45 2.0 Team : Laura + Megan

With Laura’s partner having to pull out a week before the race - a new team was born. Watching their support and care for each other was one of the emotional highlights of the race.

Days like 2.0 are the days that leave my cup overflowing. These people didn’t know each other a few years ago. But they show up, every single week. Despite life and all that it brings and throws and challenges us with. They show up. They work hard. They smile. They complain. They work their asses off together. So, days like these - game day - this is the fun stuff! This is why we train the way we do. And this is why I will always show up for you to make the days where the nerves may be high, or the doubts might start to set in, I’ll be there. To remind you, you’ve done the work. Enjoy it! Soak it in. And then get back to the next goal to smash! Vancouver. See you in a few months. Ladies, see you tonight 😁😈 #togetherwesweat #motivated #community #fitness #hyroxtraining by @mhnecha

When I first transitioned; my parents said “we support you but don’t wear dresses or wigs or anything around us please - because we need time”. This summer, I surprised them one day by being in full makeup, a summer dress and a long flowing wig”

I was so worried how they would react. My dad looked at me like I would anticipate him to see me in a bridal dress on my wedding day. He said “you look beautiful”. I was in tears after.

It was the best moment of my summer.

Today with my evening plans suddenly changing, I asked my parents out to dinner.

And nice family evening out 🩷 by @mhnecha

TFA tailgate BBQ on Sept 26th at 1pm.
You might have seen many many stories promoting this. But what is it? If you have already clicked on the link to book your Eventbrite ticket to come and attend, huge thank you.

For so many years I’ve been asking Rob to have a potluck social gathering. We had one last year, and I’m excited about this one. Let me tell you why. When my dad brought the fam to Canada from South Korea, we were honestly farm folk. Proud of it. But when we came to Vancouver island it was a huge deal for our fam. My dad came from a farm family of 10 siblings, and it was a huge deal for him to make his mark as an individual. One of the things he did right away was to buy a car. American dream right? But at the best of what that meant, it was his personal identity.

He took us on sooo many outdoor adventures in that hatchback. We cooked outdoors, we huddled in the car during all weathers eating the amazing food. For me, a tailgate is the true position of sharing our personal expression and food we love. I remember so many times when people approached us in our hatchback and curious about the amazing food we made. We shared… we answered questions.. it was truely amazing.

The reason I really advocated for a tailgate at the next TFA social - is it’s the perfect expression of who we are - and the best way to share who we are.

Our cars are an extension of our private space.. to lift up the car hatch and invite our friends to explore who we are - is the most amazing way to share ourselves in our community.

We have 18 parking spots at TFA Westshore. If you want a parking spot to park your car, and share anything you want with our community - please DM @tfawestshore . If you want to cook a storm or even serve some canned drinks, it’s more about giving yourself to the community that wants to support you.

The event brite link is in the @tfawestshore profile. If you want to come and hang and eat, please register for the free ticket to attend.

I can’t wait to cook for you, and talk and slow everything down to enjoy what our community has to offer.
