Congratulations to MHS Professor Fatima Kola on the publication of her short story, “Sweet Dreamy,” in the Summer 2026 issue of Zoetrope: All-Story!

Published by Francis Ford Coppola and designed by renowned American abstract painter Stanley Whitney, this issue celebrates an incredible collection of literary and artistic work.

We’re so proud to celebrate Professor Kola and this exciting accomplishment!

MHS welcomes Prof. Kate Santilena to Vanderbilt!

Before joining Vanderbilt, she was a Teacher-Scholar Postdoctoral Fellow and Lecturer at California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, teaching introductory public health courses and conducting research focusing on digital technologies such as social media and generative AI for health promotion and health messaging. She earned her Ph.D. in Public Health from the University of Hawaii and has a master’s degree in Public Health and a master's degree in Kinesiology. Outside of academia, she is a former Division I collegiate swimmer, having swum for San Diego State University and the University of Hawaii.

This fall she's teaching a special topics class titled, "Health in the Age of Social Media." by @mhsvanderbilt

Emmy Schuler (MHS BA '24, MA '25) will be starting her doctoral studies in sociology at the University of Texas this fall! Emmy has most recently worked the HEAL Project studying health equity at the end of life. Best of luck in your PhD studies!
