One year ago today these two amazing people, Kelly and Connor, changed my life forever. For those who didn’t know, I grew up in an unstable household. My childhood wasn’t easy, and it created obstacles no one should ever have to face. With that came me moving to 5 high schools, moving more times than I can count, and I still somehow found the strength to get up everyday and keep going, and I thank God for that everyday because without Him I wouldn’t have them. As most of you know, Kelly is an adjustment counselor at our school, and that’s what I thought too until a moment occurred where the woman I was living with wasn’t the right fit for me, and Kelly, who listened to my problems everyday, decided to step up and open her home for me. With Kelly and Connor come two amazing families that love and care for me more than ever, and I couldn’t appreciate it more, and not to mention their cat, Boomer, who only lets you love him on his timing, and their dog, Balto, who you wouldn’t think could have real human emotions but somehow shows them in every smile, cry, and moment of shyness. Coming home to a family that never fails to show up for me is more than I could ever ask for. Nothing in my life will ever compare to these moments I get to share with them. They have shown me that there is hope in life and you just have to wait for your time to come. Without them I wouldn’t be where I was today and who I am now. So thank you guys for listening to me talk your ears off, thank you for letting me play the same songs in the morning even when you’re sick of them, thank you for dealing with my 5 different moods, thank you for experiencing my first concert with me, thank you for getting me Celtics tickets just to watch my favorite player on the opposite team, but most importantly, thank you for changing my life in a way nobody else could have. by @miamarieking
