3 things that might surprise you about my house project 🏡

1. I’m building the perfect forever home, but I actually don’t want a forever home. I want to live different places and I’ve always said that my house can’t become the reason I don’t. But I’ve found myself wondering if I’d become too attached to it after pouring so much time and dedication into it, that it would be hard to leave.

2. I’m building a small home and I still worry that it’s too big. The whole reason I’m building small is to simplify life. Less stuff, less maintenance, and less space to constantly take care of. I’ve been so focused on making every inch work as efficiently as possible that I actually think we have too much space.

3. Sometimes it feels silly that I’m even building a house when I’m someone who doesn’t want to spend time at home. I’d much rather be out exploring, travelling, doing things, seeing places and making memories. But I do love having a cozy base to return to, somewhere I’m always happy to come back to after a day, a week, or a month away.

It’s easy to get so caught up in the hard parts that you forget how incredibly lucky you are to be living something you once only imagined. That the exhaustion, the stress, and the long days are also a privilege.

So, yes, it’s been overwhelming. And some days I’m completely over it. But underneath all of that, there’s a lot of gratitude.
