I’ve always believed in working hard. But most of us were taught how to work… not how to build.

If your income stops when you stop working, that’s risky.

So I started building something on the side. A business in the travel industry that creates residual income and fits around my current life.

Not perfectly.
Not overnight.
I’m not quitting my job.
I’m just building options.

And that just makes sense to me.

Dad needed rest. The kids needed entertainment. We all needed snacks.

I went to convention expecting to learn, but some of the most valuable moments happened outside the sessions, in the conversations, introductions and stories shared between people from completely different walks of life.

I came home with new connections, plenty of notes and an even clearer sense of how I want to lead: with integrity, intention and respect for people at every level.

Now comes the part that matters: taking what I learned and putting it into practice. Convention 2026, you gave me plenty to think about. 💙 taken in Marriott World Convention Center, Orlando by @micahs__

What have you normalized that you were supposed to change?

“It’s not that bad.”
“I earn enough.”
“I don’t know enough people.”
“I don’t know what to say.”
“I don’t know where to start.”
“I’m not confident enough.”
“I don’t know enough.”
“I’m not ready.”
“I got time.”
“I’m too busy.”
“Nothing happens.”
“It’s fine.”

We get so good at talking ourselves out of the thing we actually want. Not because it’s not possible but because staying where we are feels safer than admitting we want more.

I need to always be in these rooms! Third convention and something really shifted this time. I’ve been playing small. I’ve been babysitting, dabbling. But something clicked.

I left that convention different 👀

I sat in a room with women who grew their businesses while raising kids, building careers, navigating real life, during grief, people laughed at them, told them to give up their dreams, and dealing with health battles. Not a perfect life. Real life.

And they didn’t have something I don’t have. They just decided before I did.

Our generation isn’t short of ambition. We just want success to look different. More money AND more time. A career AND more flexibility. Building something of our own AND still having a life worth living.

The hard part was never the opportunity. The opportunity has always been there.

The hard part is deciding to actually try. To be bad at something for a while. To show up when nobody’s watching yet.

Same vehicle. Different driver.

I made my decision in that room. 💛
