By the time I left Uzbekistan, I was running out of pretty much everything. Money. Energy. Sleep.

I had left everything I owned in Tashkent and boarded a night train along the Silk Road to Bukhara with nothing but a small leather bag.

Being gently rocked by that train, carrying us through the night along the Silk Road, felt immensely powerless and powerful at the same time.

As the darkness slowly gave way to morning, passengers began to wake up, brewing tea, sipping in silence and looking out of the window. There was something about the quietness and simplicity of it all that took my breath away. A woman gifted me some bread, the train conductor gave me some more. With my heart full, and a lot of bread, I arrived in Bukhara.

I had been admiring the beautiful silk carpets in Kamil’s shop when I noticed an old one draped over his chair.

“What is that?”

“This? It’s an old carpet. I’m sitting on it all the time.”

“I want this.”

And somehow, it became mine.

Later that night, already in my pyjamas, I realised I was still wearing a silver bracelet I had tried on in his shop. So I threw on my coat, slipped into my Birkenstocks and ran through Bukhara at 10 pm to return it.

“Kamil!”

“Lady, what’s up?”

“I forgot your jewellery!”

He laughed, took it from my wrist and said: “Thank you. You are a queen.”

Another city, another night train and almost no sleep later, I was back in Tashkent and heading straight to the airport.

I made it through security, found my gate, ready for boarding. And fell asleep.

When I woke up, everyone was gone.

The man at the gate looked at me.

“You? It’s you?”

“Mhm.”

“RUN.”

So I ran.

I was the last person to board the plane that took me home after three months on the road.

And this is why I love to travel. Not because all of it is happy or joyful. But because months later, I still chuckle over the smallest details. And on days of doubt, I can lie down on that old silk carpet and remember everything it took to bring it home.

Kolkata. ❤️ I had dreamed of this city since I was a little girl. And still, leaving my quiet corner of South Goa for a few final days in the megacity of Kolkata felt mad. Because it probably was.

To this day, I am so glad I got to experience those days in all their intensity and depth.

The people I met and the conversations we had. Losing myself in museums and temple ceremonies. Tasting the most delicious food and mishti doi, not least for the little ceramic bowls it came in.

There were frangipani blossoms on the street of my little apartment, and every morning I collected a few on the way to my favourite coffee house and gave them to the lovely waitress. She probably thought I was slightly mad, too.

Somehow, everything I had experienced during the months before seemed to come together here. Something I wasn’t able to fully take in at the time. But five months later, I can still feel those days rearranging something in me.

Maybe that is what made Kolkata so special to me: I left, but somehow the city never quite did, I suppose. 🌓

And perhaps, without knowing it then, it also prepared and braced me for the last stretch of this trip and what was about to come…

Women of Udaipur 🪷

My mind keeps wandering back to February in India.

Scrolling through my photos and through the memories in my head, I keep thinking of the wonderful women I met in Udaipur. Their warmth, strength, colours, laughter and beauty.

This one is for them.

An ode to the beautiful women of Rajasthan. ❤️

As for my second, round pot, I chose not to glaze it but instead to practice my favorite technique: burnishing.
This ancient polishing process gives the pot a silky sheen by closing its matte pores and creating a natural seal. My tool of choice was a piece of tile I once found on the beach, smoothened by the ocean. 🌗

Back to the roots! 🏺 First time handbuilding a pot, and let’s just say there were a few wtf moments along the way 😅. But I had such a great time slowing down and enjoying every step of the shaping and building process. Until somehow ending up with an actual pot. 💌

Pure Varanasi: life in motion. Where time moves differently and the Ganges carries an unspoken depth. 🌗
January feels far away, but Varanasi still lingers close. Echoing vivid and intense within me.

Nepal 🇳🇵 hit different. It didn’t try to impress, and maybe that’s why it does. The subtle, soft, and serene way of the Newari culture stayed with me…still leaves me in awe. ✨

I spent days in pure bliss, meeting the most amazing people and one of my besties, who casually joined for a two-day stopover on her way to Japan 😎 (certified badass). @m.black15

A spontaneous new tattoo, lots of music over home-fermented rice beer, and a lifelong dream coming true with the Boudhanath Stupa.
