Still taking in this weekend. 🤍

Bushwick Open Studios gave me something I didn’t quite expect.

Of course, it was beautiful to meet so many new people, introduce my work to new eyes, reconnect with friends I haven’t seen enough of, and watch my little mailing list grow.

But what stayed with me most was witnessing people experience the work.

So much of what I make begins privately—with research, memory, questions, mythology, intuition, and ideas that I sometimes sit with for years. To then stand in a room and watch those ideas reach someone else, to hear what they saw and felt in the work, was incredibly affirming.

It reminded me that making the work is only one part of my responsibility. The other is making sure it gets out into the world where people can actually encounter it.

And somewhere inside the weekend, I noticed something else.

There were things I had imagined doing that simply didn’t happen. Details I ran out of time for. Things I could have obsessed over.

And strangely, I didn’t.

I knew where my energy needed to go. I let the rest go.

Instead, I was present.

I talked about the work. I had real conversations. I spent time with old friends and met new ones. People arrived almost magically at different moments, giving me enough space to actually be with them.

And everything that needed to happen, happened.

Maybe that was the biggest gift of the weekend: realizing how much more I trust myself now. Trusting what deserves my energy. Trusting what can be released. Trusting the work. Trusting where all of this is going.

I left feeling deeply grateful for what was, what is, and what is still becoming.

Thank you to everyone who came through, spent time with the work, asked questions, shared stories, hugged me, laughed with me, and made the weekend what it was.

More soon. 🤍

Special Thank You to @micasabk and @officialbushwickopenstudios by @micasabk

We told you: Get out if you can. 😏

At some point, AFTER the show, it was midnight. Then somehow it was 2 AM. Nobody noticed.

The first El Salsipuedes: Tertulia & Cabaret Latino felt like a movie - from burlesque, pole and poetry to salsa, live singing and story time. Axel and our salsa dancers even got the whole room up and dancing.

And the tertulia? Oh, we meant that part. People lingered. Talked. Danced. Connected. Stayed. Some till 2am. 🕑

Now we’re hearing rumors the next cabaret might have an official after party… 👀

El Salsipuedes returns Friday, October 16 at Mi Casa BK. Tickets go on sale this weekend.

Get out if you can. But first, show up!

Special thanks to our entire team for launching this incredible series with @micasabk and @thesirenpack : @gekojones @maddafestation @ittoismic @yaissa_jimenez @_steph.nu @mariamoreras @shayaulait and @breezyfthebest of @loveandlivewellnessllc
