summer feat. my people by @micaylamirabella

& when the people in charge

-the ones that the people around me decided should be in charge-

try to say that our love is worth nothing

I will tell them that our love is worth everything

I will hold their hand walking from our front door to our car door so we can be seen

I will not edit our story so we can be seen

I will bring them up in every conversation so we can be seen

not just because I want to, but because I have to

because those before us fought so that we could

and I will continue to love them in a world that keeps asking me not to

I’m going to marry you one day. We don’t know what the future holds, but I know that every version of my future has you in it.

Queer joy is resistance.

We are the rainbow after the storm, not just decoration but proof of survival.

This pride month, I will celebrate joy that doesn’t ask permission.
