I have been overly anxious about showing such a vulnerable and authentically raw piece of myself through my artwork. I’m very proud of how this evolved even through the hurt and grief of loss. It fit perfectly into the theme for the Queer Intimacy show @heavysoftarts curated. I’m so honored to be included with such amazing works. This art community is exactly what I’ve been looking for. My work has been well received and resonated with viewers – while already proud of myself the external gratification never hurts. This is just the beginning of where I want my work to evolve. Thank you to my beautiful muses in this work - your heart, compassion, and beauty will live with me forever. Two things can be true at the same time and everything will be okay. Thank you to @harvesterarts for everything. The show will be up for regular gallery hours until Final Friday, September 26th, closing show from 6-8pm.

I keep seeing people say you should avoid certain words so your work does better. That you should soften things, rename them, make it easier for the algorithm to like you.

And yeah… I get why people do that.
But I’m not doing it.

I’m not going to stop calling my work what it is just so it reaches a few more people.

This is queer art.
Not as a trend. Not as some strategy. It just is. It’s where the work comes from; my experiences, my relationships, the way I see intimacy and masculinity and all the messy in-between parts.

Lately I’ve been pushing my figures further too; letting them get more abstract, more exaggerated, a little less “correct.” There’s something really freeing about not needing them to behave or look a certain way. I can lean into humor, tension, awkwardness… all of it.
It’s been fun in a way I didn’t expect. Like I’m letting myself play again instead of trying to resolve everything.

If I tried to clean that up or make it more palatable, it would lose something real.
So yeah… maybe it doesn’t get pushed as hard.
But if you get it,
you get it.
