I sat with a cloud for a while. It had a lot to say.

——-

Today I chose a cloud.

Out of this enormous sky, I chose one.

I sat with it long enough to really see it.
I watched it move, shift, expand into itself.
I became familiar with its contours, its texture,
the way the light moved through it.

Somewhere in the looking, I became attached to its form.

But a cloud cannot stay forever.
A tragedy slowly unfolding before me.

What I had chosen was already changing,
becoming something else as I watched.

All I can do now is remember its shape.
And be grateful that, for a moment, I got to know it. taken in Koh Phangan, Thailand by @michael.berwin

Rainy afternoons are the best no? I just love to watch the weather move in from the ocean. I can feel the temperature drop, the light change, the sound of the jungle adjusting and preparing for its daily baptism. And then before you know it, off it goes. taken in Koh Phangan, Thailand by @michael.berwin

This morning the light danced across my bed like Morse code from God.

I’m still trying to decipher the message.

twelve years ago, tea was harvested from a field in Yunnan, China, and put to sleep.
i was in New York, also asleep. oblivious to the journey ahead.

last week we finally met, on a wooden śālā floating on a pond, on an island far from either of our beginnings.

the tea, a shou pu’er, now twelve years of age. a balance between earth and sky.

the ceremony was never for me. it was a witnessing of the tea’s moment, its awakening, its surrender.

and somehow, in the witnessing, something in me stirred too.

i wrote it down. 🍃

with deep gratitude

Planting seeds of amor 🌱

Yesterday a small group of us spent the day at @quinta_do_amor getting our hands dirty. Pulling weeds, planting lettuce, melons, sunflowers and a whole lot of tiny hopes for the months ahead.

We harvested vegetables from the garden, collected fresh eggs from the chickens, cooked a beautiful farm-to-table lunch together and earned ourselves some slow moments in the sun afterwards.

There’s something deeply rewarding about volunteering like this. Simple work, being present, connecting with people, and seeing the direct impact of your hands.

Big gratitude to our fearless farmer @geoffroydel 🧑‍🌾 and to Quinta do Amor for opening the land, sharing their vision and inviting us into something so grounded and nourishing.

More soil. More service. More days like these 🌞🌻🥬 taken in Arrábida by @michael.berwin

A week well spent.

Just back in Lisbon after a week in London. My first trip out of Portugal in 7 months, probably the longest I’ve stayed in one place since 2020.

London was calling as I supported @nicksarafa with his Light School AI workshop. Helping people integrate these tools into their businesses, and seeing the shift happen so quickly, is pretty incredible.

Spending time with my nieces, Annabel and Eliza, making memories and stepping into my role as Uncle Mikey, is one of life’s greatest gifts. They’re a real credit to their parents and just a joy to be around.

Also met the newest furry addition to the family, Etta, who definitely could have fit in my backpack back to Portugal, but had to leave her behind.

Reminder to self: don’t leave it so long between visits. Time’s precious. by @michael.berwin

Sometimes you just feel the call to put everything aside, lace up your boots, and start your week in the mountains.

To trade the noise for birdsong, the screen for sunlight, and begin your Monday morning walking through a forest of beech, where the air feels new and the light filters gently through the trees.

The mountains always remind me that happiness is a choice, a practice even.

We can choose to do the things that bring us joy, calm, and connection.

Sometimes it’s as simple as saying yes to the call. To go, to move, to be in nature.

Out here, everything is just doing what it’s meant to do. The forest doesn’t rush. The seasons don’t force.

The world simply shifts and breathes, in rhythm with something much greater.

And maybe that’s the simple reminder, to find our own harmony with it.

To slow down, to live closer to Source, and to remember that peace isn’t something we have to search for. It’s something we return to.

Wherever you find your peace, go there. Be there. Feel it.

And if you’ve forgotten what that place feels like, maybe this is your reminder to seek it again taken in Parque Natural da Serra da Estrela by @michael.berwin

Spent the day picking olives under the autumn sun with my dear friend Sergio, his cousins and friends from the village. The air was soft and golden, full of laughter, stories and the rhythm of hands at work. There’s something grounding about being part of a tradition that’s been alive here for hundreds, maybe thousands of years.

Learning how to pick the olives, feeling the weight of the baskets and seeing everyone come together reminded me how simple and beautiful life can be when it moves at nature’s pace. Experiences like this bring you closer to the food we eat, to the real effort, time and care that go into every drop of something we might usually take for granted.

Did you know it can take around 10 kilograms of olives to make just one litre of olive oil? Next time you drizzle some on your dinner, it’s worth thinking about the hands and the harvest behind it.

I kept thinking how special it would be to share this next year, to invite friends to come experience it too. Sergio and his family have opened their arms and said yes. So next autumn, we’ll be welcoming a small group to join the olive harvest: a weekend of gathering, learning how they’re pressed into oil, eating incredible local food, sharing wine by the fire and staying at the countryside B&B we’ve been restoring, ready by then for its first season.

If you’d like to join us next year, drop the word HARVEST in the comments. taken in Lourosa, Coimbra, Portugal by @michael.berwin
