🥰 1 Month….and somehow it also feels like you’ve always been here.

This past month has stretched time in ways We never imagined. The days can feel endless, yet the weeks disappear before we even realize they’re gone.

There have been sleepy snuggles that make time stand still. Tiny fingers wrapped around ours. Milk-drunk smiles (or maybe just gas 🤣). More diaper changes than we thought humanly possible. Endless photos & videos. Countless kisses. And a love that grows every single day.

There have also been tears. Ours & Yours.

As a pediatrician, I thought I understood newborns. As your mom, I’ve realized there is no textbook, lecture, or years of training that could ever prepare me for you.

We’ve learned that:
💙 Babies are wonderfully unpredictable.
💙 That sleep is a luxury.
💙 That Googling at 3 a.m. (or ANY time) is rarely a good idea.
💙 That every strange noise can feel terrifying.
💙 That feeding (breastfeeding, bottle feeding, formula feeding) can be beautiful, exhausting, and emotional all at once.
💙 That some days, surviving is enough.
💙 That it’s okay not to have all the answers.
💙 That asking for help isn’t weakness.
💙 That accepting a meal, a hug, or someone to hold the baby for ten minutes can feel like the greatest gift.

To our sweet boy: thank you for making us your parents. You have taught us more in one month than we could ever hope to teach you in a lifetime. We promise to keep learning alongside you. To our incredible OB & L&D teams at Mount Sinai @sinaihealthtoronto thank you for helping him arrive safely to us! 🥰

To every new parent reading this: if you’re in the thick of sleepless nights, wondering if you’re doing enough, YOU ARE. Your baby doesn’t need perfection. They need you.

To those whose arms are waiting to hold the baby they’ve dreamed of: there are no perfect words for a journey that can feel so unfair. Today, as we celebrate, we’re also thinking of you.

One month down. A lifetime of adventures to go. Happy one-month birthday, little love. You are the greatest privilege of our lives,

Mom, Dad, Nikko & Lola 🥰💙 @michael.j.pearson

🥺 There are moments in life that look beautiful on the outside but carry years of struggle underneath them.

There was a time when images like this were incredibly hard for me to see. Pregnancy announcements, maternity shoots, and gender reveals could bring joy and grief into the same breath. I was genuinely happy for the people I loved while quietly mourning something I wasn’t sure I would ever experience myself.

Our IVF journey has been years of appointments, waiting, hope, disappointment, and starting again. It brought moments of sadness, anger, self-doubt, and a heaviness that touched every part of life. At first, I didn’t want to talk about it. Silence felt safer. But over time, I realized how many people carry these experiences quietly, believing they are alone.

Sharing pieces of our story became important not because I had answers, but because infertility, reproductive medicine, and family-building deserve space for honest conversation. They always will.

🕊️ This journey has also taught me that family does not look the same for everyone. Not every life includes children, and families are built in many different ways. Every path carries its own joys, challenges, and complexities. Reaching this chapter of our story will never diminish my respect for those still navigating uncertainty, loss, or a different path altogether.

These photos hold every version of us that came before this moment, the versions that hoped, broke, rebuilt, and kept going. For us, this is more than a milestone. It’s a reflection of the years it took to get here.

💙 To our family, friends, and the people who stood beside us through every setback and small victory, thank you. Thank you for holding hope when we struggled to find it ourselves and for making us feel less alone.

🙏🏽 And to this community, those who have shared your stories, heartbreaks, triumphs, and vulnerabilities with me, thank you. The connections built through these shared experiences have been one of the most unexpected and meaningful gifts of this journey.

We did not arrive here alone, and we will never forget that.

First poster for Loop & Gavel.

A short film I wrote, produced, directed, starred in, and edited myself. It’s about artificial intelligence, the ambiguity of conciousness, the illusion of human control, and the deeply normal decision to build something smarter than us and then act surprised when it starts asking questions.

Made with AI to question AI.

Human-made. Machine-assisted. Morally inconvenient.

June 5th. Cinema Shift Festival. Hot Docs Ted Roger’s Cinema.

I suppose this is how the robots get you: first they help you make a short film about artificial sentience, then that short film screens as a finalist at a trail blazing film fest @cinemashiftfestival at Toronto’s iconic Hot Docs Ted Roger’s Cinema.

My sci-fi AI-themed short Loop & Gavel has been selected as a finalist for Cinema Shift Festival 2026.

Made with AI to interrogate AI…

and ourselves.

Human-made. Machine-assisted. Emotionally suspicious.

June 5th. Hot Docs Ted Rogers Cinema. Toronto.

Shoutout to my gracious and talented co-star @marleykajan - the only other human artist to populate the credits other than myself. And to all the other finalists in the festival. If my little polarizing film made the cut, I’m eager to experience what else this jury selected. 🎥 🤖 👀 taken in Hot Docs Ted Rogers Cinema by @michael.j.pearson

🥰 Oh Baby, yesterday we were surrounded by the kind of love that is hard to put into words.

🤰🏻Our baby shower brought together family and friends from so many different chapters of our lives, and looking around the room, it felt like a reflection of the journey it took to get here. This has not been a simple or straightforward path for us, which made this moment- standing in a room filled with people who have shown up, stood by us, and carried us forward in different ways- feel that much more meaningful.

We are incredibly grateful for the steady, unwavering support we have been given over the years. It hasn’t gone unnoticed, and it certainly hasn’t been taken for granted.

💜 To know that this baby is already so deeply loved, and that we get to step into this next chapter surrounded by people who mean so much to us, is something we don’t take lightly.

🙏🏽 A heartfelt thank you to everyone who helped bring the day to life, with special shout outs to:
- The Collia & Pearson families
- To our friends who helped set up, clean up, signage, invites, games, transporting the mountain of diapers (@cpkemp89 and @k1mmbow)and without question have been there from the day we began to build our family and our new home with the constant emotional support filled with so much laughter (and tears) along the way 🤣😭
- @step9717 for the beautiful flower bouquets 💐
- @balloonsbyfiore the ballon arch, outside decor, sign 😍
- @gianlucaruggierichef (and team) whose culinary talent added something truly special to the day, @stephburditt for being there to help support the event from the early morning🍝 and Dani @wiens & Meredith @rily.kitchen.
- Our generous raffle contributors 🎁@colaneriestatewinery @drnozebest @miindfullymeditate
- Photos: courtesy of David Mengi - capturing all the special moments from the day and more! 📸

We’re still taking it all in. And feeling very, very grateful.
Baby Pearson is the luckiest of babies 🥹
