For 25 years I ran a school for children with dyslexia. Now I've turned what I learned there into a game. Many of you know how hard spelling practice can be for a child who struggles. The list comes home, the tears start, and everyone dreads Friday's test. So, I've brought my original Word Quest book I wrote 20 years ago into the digital age. WordQuest is a spelling adventure for iPad and iPhone. Children duel a wizard, fight off a pack of dogs and stop a runaway steam train, and every quest teaches a real spelling rule. It follows the structured phonics that are so crucial for learning to spell, but the children are too busy on an adventure to notice. Every word is read aloud, so children who find reading hard can still play. The first two quests are free, so you can see whether your child takes to it before paying anything.
