Scenes from my mid tour vacation, Bordeaux, Biarritz, Guethary, Bayonne, Saint Andre de Cubzac, Seignosse, Bidart, August ‘26.. an eclipse on the beach, good times in Bordeaux, amazing chateaux, wine tourism in Graves and Blaye/Cote de Bourg, plenty of beaches, cool river swimming in the hot summer, some great food and drinks, and most of all great hospitality from many dear friends from Pays Basque to Bordeaux 💕 by @michael_versteegt

Epic 20 mile bike ride around Bordeaux. Across the Garonne river, along the quai, through Bastide, back across the Garonne river, by Cite du Vin, stop at Les Vivres des Arts where we did a Rising Tide show years ago, along Le Lac, way out to check out the waterfalls and grotto at Parc Majolan in Blanquefort, back through Eysines and Bruges, pass by Place de Quinconces, along the Bordeaux quai passing by La Bourse and Miroir d’Eau, Basilique St Michel, and then a nice tartare de bœuf to finish off the day. 1. Funky mirror, Enghiens les Bains. The restaurant was amazing, merci BP!
2. Notre Dame et la Seine, Paris.
3. Studio Victor Vagh under the LatinQuarter, Paris. The magician in his magical place
4. The amazing Stan Walbert, you’ve seen his work for sure ;)
5. Dear Flavia Coelho and nice discovery of Sian Pottock.
6. Les Machines de L’ile of Nantes. Of course it was closed after soundcheck. Here’s a peak over the wall.
7. Marine life carousel a la Jules Verge, Nantes. Also closed
8. The Loire riverside lights up at night, Nantes.
9. Gare du Nord, Paris. Getting on the Eurostar train to London.
10. London at the Forum, a hectic day but still managed to visit a pub and hang with Hollie Cook and company.
11. View over Athens, Greece. Another hectic day, but did get a great lunch at a taverna.

In this edition of Mike V’s Europe we visit the Alsatian French medieval city of Mulhouse, pronounced Moo-loose (don’t ask me why). Noumatrouff is a funky old rock club with a great local crew and a dirty dive bar aesthetic ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ the city center is quaint and historic.. Babylone Beer Bar wasn’t what we pictured, but La Taverne des Chavaliers Teutoniques had cheap drinks, tables built out of repurposed Massey Ferguson tractors, friendly service and a cool spiral staircase to the upstairs WC. Pretend you are a thirsty knight returning from slaying a dragon or rescueing a damsel in distress. Highly recommended! by @michael_versteegt

Loved hearing Baba @billsummersofficial sharing a blessing in Yoruba language… he’s a deeply spiritual and kind man.. go see @theheadhunters.official if you get the chance! It was an honor to mix this show and I hope to cross paths with them again soon! @mikeclarkdrums what a pocket! @craighandy gotta make sure to have time to play Butterfly next time! I love the Netherlands! It’s my roots and i feel at home there. Took the crew to a Dutch pannekoekhuis in Groningen, on a schip! Foreigner was playing in the next room in Tilburg, caught a couple tunes.. however didn’t catch a few photos with dear friends Jurgen and @debbym78 .. not enough time, never enough time in the NL for me 🇳🇱 taken in Netherlands by @michael_versteegt

Mühle Hunzigen, Switzerland… unique place with a sculpture garden outside and a museum of kitsch and exhibition of all the great artists that have performed in the past. Beautiful sounding room with a lovely staff and atmosphere. Bonus having a strong current river walking distance away.. templed to float to nearby Bern but was talked out of it 😂 taken in Mühle Hunziken by @michael_versteegt

When in Munich for a night off, go to a biergarten or 2! Went to Marienplatz in the city centre, passed by the Rathaus and visited the famous Hofbrauhaus.. saw my friends @morry_dabaron @r.i.c.k.d.a.n.i.e.l.s and @adubta_music after the show.. so much more to see, so little time… auf wiedersehen München! taken in München, Bayern, Germany by @michael_versteegt

Portugal was amazing! Arrived in Porto on the night of Festa São João and i got right into it, buying a plastic hammer as soon as the van dropped us at the hotel. Traditionally people bop each other on the heads all night (that’s the peep peep sound you hear), and when it gets dark, thousands of candle-lit balloons get launch into the sky, with fireworks off the bridge at midnight. The next town was Loulé in the Algarve region, big street festival, there was a kiosk selling ginjas drinks in chocolate cups. Had such a great show that i bought ginjas shots for the local crew that was available :) finished up in Lisboa and found a sertanejo club under the Golden Gate bridge replica after the show 🇧🇷 taken in Porto, Portugal by @michael_versteegt

Final show of the tour, Jazz à Vienne festival in Vienne, France. The venue is a 2000 year old Gallo-Romain amphitheater 🤯 I’ve spent time here in the past with my friend @thibaud.saby so it was great to come back! Also great to see my friend @idir_dubinc and @jawad_jawi_jah (no pic 😢) we met here years ago when we played here with Groundation. Came a day earlier and got to see Sun Ra Arkestra as well as several other acts playing the festival. Great way to end the tour! taken in Théâtre Antique de Vienne by @michael_versteegt
